A lovely stay at a...

Liked: Perfect location for the walks we wanted to do - although the weather wasn’t the best and we decided against Helvellyn and walked opposite the hotel to Raven Crag and beyond. The staff and management were all superb and the food was excellent. You have to try the Steak and Kidney Pudding!Rooms are uneven and squeaky, but that’s to be expected and certainly not an issue.
Disliked: Nothing bad to say tbh.

Would not recommend this pub...

Liked: The breakfast room, lounge and bar area was nice with nice furnishings
Disliked: The upstairs corridor and bedrooms were totally unloved the windows in room 18 did not shut so they put tacky double glazed panels over the windows. The door had to be slammed to lock, the bedroom was clean but very tired.the pictures on booking.com do not represent what you see when you arrive

Good

Liked: Lovely old inn
Disliked: I was staying in room 4. One problem I was loathe to open the window ( Only opened from the bottom) because the ivy on the outside wall was growing above the bottom sill of the window, so when the window was opened the bugs in the ivy flew into the room. Not pleasant

Really enjoyable place to stay

Liked: Really enjoyed our stay here. Felt homely and comfortable and the service from the landlord was excellent. We had a great evening meal and there was a lovely ambience to the place. The room was tastefully furnished and bed very comfortable.
Disliked: Room was very small with limited space to walk around the bed.
