Recommended as walking base

Liked: Perfect location for Helvellyn. Friendly staff. Comfy bed. Good shower. Very clean. A few areas reminded you of the wonderful old inn this once must have been.
Disliked: No awful issues. Definitely some road noise but bearable. Small room but fine for the odd night. A few hooks for coats etc would be a wonderful addition. Standard but ok pub fare. This lovely old pub has been refurbished within an inch of its life. Does not impact one’s stay but once upon a time it had a history.

Liked: The Inn was very easy to find and situated in the most beautiful and picturesque area. The inn was a 13 min drive from the town centre, which was also easy to find. The Inn felt cosy and like a home from home and the staff were lovely and very attentive. The area is quiet and the Inn was very peaceful.
Disliked: Our room was situated right at the top of the stairs - not much of a gripe, it's just a personal preference to be tucked away. The food was a little bit expensive, but was extremely good quality. The room was a bit small, but I'm a small person so not much bother for me - especially as the room was very clean and had everything we needed!Basically no real things to dislike.

Perfect hotel for exploring the...

Liked: We had a great stay at The King's Head. Can't fault it at all, staff are amazing, the food is great and the location just below Helvellyn is unbeatable. Perfect base for walking from. Staff couldn't have been more helpful.

Liked: Fantastic location - perfect location for hiking. Great garden outside with fantastic views over the hills. The staff was very kind and helpful - we needed help with heating up baby food and they were more than happy to do it.
Disliked: Room was on a small side
