The Spotlight on The June Motel Prince Edward County

Chic Retro Vibes in Prince Edward County

Modern, Instagram-worthy, and effortlessly cool, The June Motel Prince Edward County brings retro charm to wine country. Located in Picton, this boutique motel is just a short drive from local concert venues and the picturesque Sandbanks Provincial Park. With curated interiors, a laid-back garden bar, and lake views, it’s the kind of place that makes a weekend concert trip feel like a mini vacation.

Guest rooms feature air conditioning, flat-screen TVs, private bathrooms with stylish touches, and even mini-fridges for your late-night snacks. Some rooms include private terraces—perfect for winding down after a high-energy show.

Why Concert-goers love it

The June Motel is about 20–30 minutes from popular venues like The Empire Theatre, making it a solid home base for music fans. The quiet, boutique setting is ideal for post-concert recovery, and the vibe is relaxed without being sleepy. While it’s not downtown, the peaceful location and easy parking make it worth the short drive. With a 4:00 PM check-in and early 8:00 AM check-out, it works best for those catching evening shows and heading out the next morning.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends looking for a stylish hangout spot
  • Solo travelers chasing their dream concert
  • Couples turning a show into a weekend escape
  • Fans needing a peaceful place to recharge after the encore
  • Budget-conscious music lovers who still want flair

Food and Drink Options

There’s a charming on-site bar serving up local wine and cocktails, perfect for a pre-show sip or nightcap. The motel doesn’t offer a full restaurant, but the handy in-room fridge makes snack-stashing easy, and downtown Picton's restaurants are just a short drive away. Breakfast isn’t on-site, but nearby cafés offer plenty of morning-after fuel.

Nightlife Options

While The June keeps things mellow on property, it’s perfectly positioned to explore Picton’s local bars and tasting rooms. For live music lovers, The Empire Theatre is a 30-minute drive away and regularly hosts major acts. After the show, return to your peaceful room or sip something local under the motel’s twinkle lights.

What People Say

Guests rave about the stylish design and laid-back atmosphere, calling it “the perfect mix of retro and modern.” The staff’s friendly vibe and great local tips also get high marks, and many say it’s a “hidden gem” that feels like a grown-up sleepover party.

Areas for Improvement

The motel’s early 8:00 AM check-out isn’t ideal for those who like to sleep in after a big night, and the location means you’ll need a car to get to and from shows. There’s no restaurant on-site, so plan ahead for late-night bites.

The Bottom Line

If you're looking for a stylish, peaceful base after a concert-filled night, The June Motel Prince Edward County delivers serious charm with a relaxed vibe.

Clean & enjoyable

Liked: The place was clean and tidy
Disliked: The staff at reception tried to charge us an extra $CAD250 upon checking out even though we paid in full prior to the date of check in. Would recommend for everyone to double check their invoice before leaving/checking out

While the motel is clean,...

Liked: I recently stayed at this motel and while the place was clean, the overall experience did not match the high rates they charge. For what they bill as a “luxury” rate, the service and amenities were far below expectations. The mattresses were extremely uncomfortable—cheap quality with springs that could be felt through the surface. The bed was also so noisy that both my husband and I, as well as our friends in another room, barely slept all night.Breakfast was included, but the selection was very limited: only muffins, scones, apples, oranges, yogurt, and coffee. This is far from what you’d expect for the cost of the stay. The most frustrating part was the booking experience. I had originally booked a room for $634.61. A few days later, I discovered my reservation had been canceled due to a payment issue—but I received no call or email about this. I then had to rebook the same type of room for $787.38, using the exact same payment method, and this time it went through without issue. I messaged the property via the Booking.com app but never received a response. In the end, I paid significantly more for a booking I had already made in advance, which left me feeling frustrated and disappointed.
Disliked: Definitely not a best value for price, they charge hotel price and provide average motel service.

Thanks June. We'll be back.

Liked: super quaint, friendly staff, great location overlooking the Bay.
Disliked: coffee could have stayed out a little longer. It was removed just before 10am.

Very good

Liked: We were here 6 years ago and this motel has special meaning to us. Lovely motel with all its retro touches. Love the fire pit and the lounge area. Love the retro style radio in the room
Disliked: The bed is a bit squeaky but maybe that's part of the retro charm
