The Spotlight on The Jacobean Hotel

Historic Style Meets Concert-Ready Comfort in Coventry

Modern convenience meets old-world charm at The Jacobean Hotel, a character-rich retreat set in a 16th-century farmhouse. Located just five minutes from Coventry city centre, this privately owned property blends traditional English style with modern touches like free Wi-Fi and individually decorated rooms. Whether you're here for a show or a weekend escape, it’s a memorable place to stay with easy access to the city’s live music venues.

Why Concert-goers love it

This hotel offers a peaceful post-show escape, yet it's just a short bus ride or drive from Coventry’s main venues and nightlife. With a bus stop right outside and Coventry Rail Station only 2.5 miles away, getting to and from gigs is a breeze. The 2pm check-in time gives you time to settle in before the show, and the relaxed vibe makes it a great place to wind down after a loud night.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends who want a base with charm and character
  • Solo travelers catching a bucket-list concert
  • Couples looking to combine live music with a romantic weekend
  • Fans wanting a quieter post-concert recovery space away from the city buzz
  • Budget-conscious music fans who still want comfort and style

Food and Drink Options

The on-site restaurant serves up both classic and contemporary dishes made from locally sourced ingredients. There's a full a la carte dinner menu if you're looking to dine in style, plus a lighter bar menu for a quick bite before heading out. While there’s no 24/7 room service, the cozy bar and dining options mean you’re covered for most cravings. Breakfast is available in the morning—ideal after a late night out.

Nightlife Options

While the hotel itself doesn’t host live music, you're only minutes from Coventry’s best bars, pubs, and venues. Prefer to stay in? The on-site bar offers a relaxed setting with drinks to match the mood. It's a quiet spot to toast the night without the crowds.

What People Say

Guests love the characterful rooms and peaceful setting, especially after a night out. Many mention the friendly staff and the convenience of the location for both city access and motorway links. The mix of historic charm and modern amenities often comes up as a highlight.

Areas for Improvement

Some guests note that the hotel could benefit from a few modern upgrades in the rooms, and due to the building’s age, there can be a few creaks here and there. But for most, the charm far outweighs any quirks.

The Bottom Line

If you're after a cozy, character-filled stay just a short trip from Coventry’s live music action, The Jacobean Hotel hits all the right notes.

Value for money, cheap and...

Liked: Both breakfast and dinner were nice, but all menu options were available.
Disliked: Room was a bit tired, and carpets could do with a clean. Limited plugs in the rooms.

As long as you don't...

Liked: Perfectly adequate for a one night business stay. Rooms are basic but comfortable enough and there is easy/free parking which was good. The bar and restaurant area was great and the Chicken burger was one of the best I have ever had to be fair!
Disliked: No working WiFi which in this day is an absolutely joke and simply not acceptable! What added insult to injury was the sign in the room that said 'we know how important WiFi is so we make it available for free' well you clearly get what you pay for as it was beyond useless so I couldn't do any work!!! Asked at reception and the girl said without even looking up 'yeah sorry' so clearly heard it many times before and was embarrassed to even try and help. I understand it was cheap accommodation but also a full sized ironing board would be nice.I couldn't stay here again even if I wanted to - sorry.

A welcome alternative to small...

Liked: We had a superior room which was very spacious and well fitted out with a separate bath in a mezzanine and a walk-in shower. The bed was comfortable. The staff were very helpful.
Disliked: The glass in the walk-in shower could be extended as it was nearly impossible to avoid water escaping. This is obviously a long term issue as there were signs of previous water damage to the carpet outside of the wet area. Nevertheless this did not effect our enjoyment of the room which was one of the better ones we have experienced in the UK
