Set in the beautiful Dovedale Valley The Izaak Walton is a 17th-century hotel with spectacular views across the Derbyshire countryside known for its fishing streams a log fireplace in the front hotel lounge and an additional log fireplace with traditional oak beamed ceilings in the Bar area. A seating area tea and coffee facilities and a TV feature in all rooms at The Izaak Walton Hotel. Each private bathroom includes a selection of toiletries and a hairdryer. The Haddon Restaurant offers fine dining and views over Thorpe Cloud Hill and Dovedale. You can go fishing in one of Derbyshire's finest trout streams the River Dove which is just 656 feet away and was made famous in 'The Complete Angler'. Scenic walks are possible in the surrounding Peak District countryside. The historic market town of Ashbourne is a 10-minute drive away and Alton Towers Theme Park is 20 minutes' drive from the hotel. Haddon Hall and the historic Chatsworth House are a 25-minute drive away. Please note that although the hotel is dog friendly they are only accepted in certain rooms and a maximum of 2 dogs in those rooms. A lovely weekend get away...

Liked: A very cosy hotel with real fires and comfy sofas. Very relaxing.Beautiful views and surrounded by breathtaking countryside.
Disliked: Our bathroom was spotless but very simple and basic.The staff weren’t as friendly as we thought they would be.

Good hotel in beautiful location.

Liked: Beautiful setting. Good breakfast. Rooms were nice and beds very comfortable. Very nice staff in the restaurant and bar and would recommend dinner.
Disliked: There is a £30 charge for a dog friendly room that is not made clear on the booking.com system. This was unfortunately not communicated when I called directly to request a dog room. On arrival I was actually not booked into a dog room which was quickly resolved however on payment, the extra charge was yet again not communicated. It only came to my attention when I came to check out. Not very well managed at all.

Liked: lovely spot. hotel smart and clean. room comfy. menu was not what i expected as it was expensive and nothing like the website. Sorry but i dont expect to go to a country house hotel and have s burger for£18. thought food would be better standard. the beers in the bar eere ok but lagers were awfull to start but after barrel change a bit better. Breakfast was served in a lovely room. smoked salmon and scrambled egg was good. the cooked breakfast was very dry ie cooked in advance. why dont they cook to demand as nobody minds waiting for good food.Did like it but rather expensive..
