I was very disappointed by...

Liked: The breakfast was the best part of my stay. The food was great and there was a good variety. My bed was very comfortable. The room itself was so much smaller (even cramped) than shown on photos. The location and distance from the Illinois State Beach was great which is why I chose this hotel.The hotel lobby and hallways were beautiful. The parking was acceptable.
Disliked: The furniture in the room (sofa and armchair) was very outdated and had worn and stained areas. The desk was very cheaply made. The desk chair was horrible. I was afraid to sit on it as it was wobbly and also very cheap. I took photos of this chair. It looked as if it was found in a garbage dump..or needs to be in one. It was dirty, with crumbs between the seat "cushion" and the back. One of the arms had a "cushion" and it was torn and non-functional. The wheels of this chair were also filthy. The cabinets in the kitchen were scratched and in need of paint or re-stained. The lever to flush the toilet was black from use and needs to be re-painted. Bathtub was clean. TV was small but not a major issue. Bottom-line...room needs to be updated. That desk chair needs to be thrown out and replaced. The expense to make this hotel beautiful was obviously used in the lobby and hallways, and not in the rooms. At least not MY room. I thought about asking for a better room, but was tired and just accepted what I got. Staff was just ok...not very friendly. I would stay here again but in a different room, and I would want to see the room in person before staying.
