Great hotel , friendly staff...

Excellent location, bearable for one...

Liked: The location of the hotel is ideal. We were going to an event at The Piece Hall which is right next door.
Disliked: It took approx 1hr to check in due to one staff member checking everyone in whilst also trying to get updates from the housekeepers regarding rooms that weren’t ready. Our room was ridiculously overpriced, wallpaper was stained and peeling, the furniture was dated, it was like walking back into 1980 but not in a good way. The bathroom was another 80s nightmare.

Pleasant

Liked: The location was perfect....opposite the train station and around the corner from piece hall
Disliked: Its a dingy hotel which is fine I'm just staying there based on location but when you get there they want a £100 deposit from you....if you see the rooms in this hotel you could set them on fire and it wouldn't do £100 worth of damage

Not a great spot.

Liked: Proximity to the piece hall.
Disliked: I don’t know where to start. However, I was assured I would receive a refund on the property a week ago now. I wasn’t going to write a review and leave it at that but having not heard anything, not receiving a refund and the hotel not answering calls here I am. A beautiful property with the owners clearly focussed on quick revenue rather than long term goals and investment.

Disappointing Stay

Liked: Proximity to bars and concert venue
Disliked: Although check in was from 3pm, our room was not ready until 5pm... There was no real apology to any of the guests left waiting, and it meant we had to waste time on our trip waiting to check in. When returning to the hotel after the concert, the bar was unmanned and so we weren't able to get a drink. They also took a £100 deposit for security, however I found this quite archaic, and considering the rooms were sub par, I don't think this is required. Although the bed was comfortable and a fan was provided, I wouldn't pay the price we did to stay in this hotel again.

Location location location.

Liked: Location, right next to Piece Hall.
Disliked: Small, pokey and very hot rooms. The shower didn't work. Very outdated rooms. Despite reviews saying staff were friendly, we were dealt by 3 different people and none of them were welcoming or friendly.

Comfortable and pleasant stay.

Liked: Good clean and comfy hotel. Spacious rooms and comfortable bed.Breakfast was cooked to order.

Liked: great people and service, room was just dated and bathroom not finished nice no cold water both taps hot :(

Cheap and Cheerful Staff

Liked: This accommodation is literally a stones throw fromthe station and another stones throw from The Piece Hall therefore great if you are attending concerts held there. The accommodation is long overdue an overhaul but on the plus side the bedding and towels were white and clean. No complaints for a bed for the night after the gig at The Piece Hall. The staff are so lovely and helpful too. For the price paid I’d stay again.
Disliked: Very, very dated.
