Comfy and high quality hotel
Liked: The beds were very comfortable. Excellent mattress, fluffy pillows and duvet and high quality sheets. The bathroom was good and the shower was powerful. The lounge and bar area had well laid-out seating areas and stylish furnishings and decor. It was possible to work or relax in a quiet but cosy atmosphere. The fire alarm went off in the middle of the night (not the staff or the hotel's fault - that could happen anywhere) but the staff were very kind and helpful. They apologised profusely for the inconvenience. The cocktails were delicious and the barman was really great.
Disliked: We had a room with bunk beds. It was OK for me but I think that for anyone older or not strong and fit, the top bunk is challenging, especially getting down from it. For two people sharing a room there is very little space to put bags or clothes. Nowhere to hang clothes. The location was right beside tube stations and bus stops but at the location itself, there were no good coffee places or restaurants. The immediate neighbourhood is quite gritty and not very pleasant. The Hoxton hotels are very expensive and even though this is London I think it is somewhat over-priced. We had breakfast and dinner and my only criticism is that the food is quite unhealthy. More fresh and healthy choices would be nice. Also a coffee was extremely expensive and when you did order an expensive coffee it was a tiny, tiny little cup.
