The Spotlight on The Hoxton Portland

Chic, artsy base in the heart of downtown Portland

The Hoxton Portland is a modern, design-forward hotel that blends sleek comfort with Portland’s creative energy. Nestled in the city’s vibrant Old Town Chinatown district, it’s just a short walk or ride away from major concert halls and live music venues. With curated decor, local artwork, and sweeping views of Mount Hood from the rooftop, it’s an inviting stay for music lovers looking for more than just a place to crash.

Why Concert-goers love it

Location is everything when you’ve got tickets in hand, and The Hoxton delivers. You’ll be close to some of Portland’s key venues and late-night transportation options, with plenty of nearby bars and restaurants to keep the night going. Plus, with a 24-hour front desk and 12:00 pm checkout, there’s no rush to roll out after a late night. The hotel’s stylish but laid-back vibe also makes it a great place to decompress post-show.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends looking for a trendy base near the action
  • Solo travelers chasing a bucket-list gig
  • Couples turning a concert into a romantic city weekend
  • Fans seeking a cool but quiet space to recover
  • Budget-conscious music lovers seeking stylish value (Shoebox rooms are small but chic!)

Food and Drink Options

The Hoxton has your cravings covered, from early coffee runs to midnight snacks. Grab breakfast or all-day bites at Lovely Rita, enjoy rooftop tacos and cocktails with skyline views at Tope, or slip downstairs into 2NW5, the underground speakeasy bar, for a nightcap. While there’s no 24/7 room service, you’re never far from a great plate or drink.

Nightlife Options

Whether you’re pre-gaming or winding down, The Hoxton’s got options. The on-site rooftop bar serves strong drinks with a view, while the speakeasy downstairs offers a more intimate atmosphere. Step outside and you’re in one of Portland’s most happening nightlife zones, with bars, lounges, and live music spots just blocks away.

What People Say

Guests rave about the hotel’s stylish rooms, friendly service, and fantastic location for exploring downtown Portland. The rooftop bar and speakeasy get special mentions for atmosphere and quality. Many also appreciate the thoughtful design touches and the curated local art throughout the property.

Areas for Improvement

Rooms, especially the Shoebox category, can be on the cozy side—great for solo travelers, but a tight squeeze for big luggage or longer stays. Some guests mention occasional street noise, so light sleepers may want to request a higher floor or bring earplugs, just in case.

The Bottom Line

For concert-goers wanting a stylish, central spot with great vibes, food, and nightlife, The Hoxton Portland hits all the right notes.

Very good

Liked: The staff are super welcoming and friendly, and allowed for early check in given available beds. I love the speakeasy, rooftop bar that they have here. The location is walkable to the MAX rail as well as to the other parts of downtown.
Disliked: Not with the hotel itself, but the area surrounding has homeless people nearby so be careful of your surroundings.

Disappointing - 2.0 out of 5

Disappointed, felt like we spent...

Liked: The front desk staff were very kind, rooftop bar was nice for a drink.
Disliked: Disappointed when we got up the elevator. We knew we rented the “snug” room, but were startled when we got into the room. The small hallway gave me anxiety just getting to my room. Room had a large wet spot in the ground under the AC unit. I’m assuming from AC, but the radio was playing when we walked in and we both wondered if we were in the wrong room. Also, TV is set up somewhere where you can’t actually watch unless you are standing at the door? Thought maybe it was on a swivel but didn’t appear to be (or at least didn’t swivel anymore if it was). Just honestly very odd. Lastly, this area of town is pretty rough. Nervous to leave the car, but valet was more then some of the other hotels we have stayed. Just not for us, but appreciate kindness of staff.

cute and great location!

Liked: Close to the Star Theater and also tram service, however not many Chinese restaurants so the food truck was for lunch. I will stay here again unless I find a hotel with a Czech restaurnt really close.
Disliked: room was a bit small but fine for one.

Very good

Liked: Nice clean rooms. The beds were amazing. Good air conditioning. Friendly staff, especially Sonja (I believe her name was) our waiter at the roof top restaurant Tope. She took very good care of us and told us about nice places to visit. We relly liked the quesadilla and rockfish tacos at the restaurant and the churro bites were amazing.Very nice to lounge in the lobby area and have coffee from the in-house coffee shop.Close distance to the water front which is nice for walks, the saturday market and all kinds of stores for shopping and close but not too close to the train that can take you to Cascades station shopping center or airport for example.
Disliked: The immediate area is not so great, visible drug use. But that being said we never felt unsafe. There is always someone stationed at the door/lobby.
