Hotel Description
This mid-18th century former inn offers unique rooms free Wi-Fi and excellent views of Rye. Built around 1750 for local sailors and ship builders The Hope Anchor is thought to have once sheltered the Tenterden Gang who used its old secret passages for smuggling. Relax beside the log fire in traditional cozy bar and enjoy the individually styled bedrooms some of which have a four poster bed. In the morning enjoy a delicious traditional full English breakfast or if you prefer a lighter continental breakfast of cold meats and cheeses yogurt and fresh fruit salad or maybe even have both!! all served in our breakfast room. (Please note we do not serve lunches or evening meals) Couples particularly like the location — they rated it 9.4 for a two-person trip. We speak your language! The Hope Anchor has been welcoming Booking.com guests since 18 May 2010

The view on rye is...

Liked: The receptionist waited for me to arrive a little bit out of the normal reception hours, so I highly appreciate this and the breakfast is really nice as well, with plenty of things to enjoy complementary to traditional english breakfast.

Happy place and glad we...

Liked: Very cute town. Very cute place. Views were lovely.
Disliked: We got a room with a tiny shower and it needed some pain in there.

Excellent value for money.

Liked: Nice people. The hotel must be close to the highest point of the town and has great views. It's a little away from the main tourist areas but only two or three minutes walk from all the places of interest, shops and restaurants. The facilities in the room all worked as they should and the breakfast was excellent. On the whole, I think the Hope Anchor gives excellent value for money, I've paid much more elsewhere for considerably less, and I'd happily stay again.
Disliked: I have to mention the comport of the bed in my room, or rather the lack of it. The mattress was two singles zipped together and simply didn't work - the ridge down the centre line was a pain - literally. My booking was for a single room, so no big problem for me, but it does need to be addressed. I mentioned it at the reception, so I expect it'll be quickly sorted.

Lovely Stay

Liked: Very nice host and a homely comfortable hotel, with a cosy bar. The room was lovely - spacious and a great bathroom and shower. Good TV. And a great breakfast the next morning.
Disliked: Tiny things but the mattress was a bit soft, and we were placed right beside another couple at breakfast whereas it would have been nicer to be more spaced out as the room was fairly empty.
