Very clean place and staff...

Liked: I loved the room it was very comfy, clean? the staff was very friendly and helpful. I had the best experience of an hotel staying at The Homestead. I hate it's closing for a while.?
Disliked: The hot water in the bathroom did not get hot and window were very drafty. But I know that could not be helped it is a old building still would stay if it was staying open. I really like it here.

Quaint & Traditional Hotel Experience...

Liked: The moment I stepped on the property I was excited to experience a boutique-style hotel. We entered on a cold winter evening to a warm door handle that welcomed us first. I enjoyed how cute the hotel was. It was old fashioned and stayed true to its original design. It was quaint and provided just what I needed. The basics (bed, plenty of storage space, great shower pressure, radiator units for heat in the winter, & breakfast). I've never had a radiator and it was nice to toast up the bathroom during my shower and come out to a warm bathroom. The little things. The location is fantastic. We walked around the neighborhood and enjoyed the restaurants and pretty houses. I was ecstatic to see my favorite restaurant, Joy Yees to be walking distance. It's worth walking all over the neighborhood because there's a lot to see! Also, the toiletries were wonderful. They weren't tiny and had a lot of quality products that smelled good and didn't make my skin dry. (They provided shampoo, conditioner, and bar soap.)
Disliked: Our room had an ice bucket, but there wasn't any information on where the ice maker was. We concluded that there was no ice machine after walking through 6 floors. There was no one at the front desk at 3 AM. It's fine, we got to see the decor and traditional setting of the hotel. Another small thing was that since the windows are old, it was letting in the cold winter air. I took advantage of it by putting my drinks there, but also a towel because it was chilly and the blanket was thin. I just blasted the radiator and was comfortable.

Very pleasant.

Liked: We like old-fashioned places, and this certainly was. So it may not be everyone's cup of tea, but it was elegant and nice. The elevator is small but works well. We had to call for a replacement light bulb, but they came in good time. The bathroom is quite old-fashioned, but functional and fine. We had an apartment with a kitchen and a full-sized refrigerator, which was great for storing the fruit tray we had purchased for a gathering the next morning. One of the blinds in the living room didn't work, so I showed the guy when he came to replace the light bulb and he said he would get it fixed the next day. The view from the windows was Northwestern University's Neo-Gothic hallways, which could not be more lovely. Nice and quiet, too. The breakfast was adequate.
Disliked: Pretty much covered everything in the above paragraph.
