A step back in time...

Liked: Wonderful building oozing with history. They don't make hotels like this anymore!
Disliked: The place appears to be suffering from a lack of investment, it's literally falling apart inside and out which is a shame given how grand it looks from a distance. I understand that it's a massive building for *only* 125ish rooms and the maintenance/upkeep costs must be astronomical. It could really do with a commited owner willing to invest for the long-term to really do it justice. Food - Breakfast was generally good apart from the scrambled(powdered) eggs that were tasteless and watery.

A nice memorable visit to...

Liked: The friendly atmosphere in the bar and the availability of board games. Lovely bright and airy shower room.
Disliked: plug sockets by bed not accessible and the room was a little cramped.

Good

Liked: Staff friendliness, location
Disliked: There are no ramps to enter the hotel which made it extremely difficult to go in and out of the hotel as both my wife and I are disabled. They have no disabled facilities which spoiled our stay a bit.

Comfortable and warm hotel with...

Liked: Adam was great. We had our dogs with us so not allowed in the dining room so he set us up a table in the lounge and brought our meals to us. That made the stay so nice.
Disliked: The first room we were given smelled of urine so we complained and were offered an alternative room that was much better. Some of the younger students in the restaurant could do with more training in fact the restaurant needed a manager to ensure people that needed to be charged for their meals did pay.

Accommodation was okay, but service...

Liked: Lovely Victorian hotel. It was clean and palatial situated overlooking Strathpeffer Square. A couple of good places to eat out in.
Disliked: The lift was tiny. Not easy to accommodate a wheelchair. It had to reverse in! The breakfast was poor. No eggs, little tomato and onion, the hot plate foods had been sitting out for some time the side plates were still all wet from the dishwasher., despite asking for more butter, only 6 portions were put in the basket, there was no room service for rhe 3 days we were there, on asking we were told it happened every 2nd day, the rooms were a bit small to accommodate a wheelchair and for guests.
