Beautiful setting and great food...

Liked: The food is fantastic, with the breakfast buffet in particular being extensive and absolutely delicious (though the coffee was curiously poor). The outdoor swimming pool, complete with bar and small beach, is a real highlight. We also enjoyed our archery session — the staff were lovely — and a bike ride along the canal. Service at The Stable restaurant and at the Glasshouse evening buffet was very good.
Disliked: We travelled with our young daughter and booked a quadruple room advertised as having one extra-large double bed and one single bed. On arrival, we were given a room with one double bed and what was presented as a sofa bed. In fact, it was only a settee with a firm bench-style cushion — no mattress or pull-out mechanism — and not suitable as a proper bed.Given the high price point, this was very disappointing. After raising it with the operations team, we were moved to two separate rooms in a lower category. This was a fair compromise under the circumstances, but ultimately not what we wanted, and it made the stay stressful. Our daughter also did not sleep well as a result.Beyond the room issue, the gym is underwhelming for a hotel of this category. With the exception of one very helpful lady at reception, staff at the front desk were rather aloof. The valet at the entrance was not welcoming, and service in The Lounges and the Stables Bar fell short of expectations.

If not for the surroundings...

Liked: The surroundings were beautiful
Disliked: The level of service provided was wholly unacceptable given the nightly rate. Furthermore, the requirement to park a considerable distance from reception and subsequently carry our luggage to the room was unreasonable. We were instructed to take a seat and assured that drinks would be served; however, after waiting 15 minutes without service, we were compelled to follow up with staff before receiving them.

Liked: The staff, the spa and the Skewd restaurant
Disliked: Would have been nice to have an adults only outdoor pool. Too many noisy kids to enjoy that part.

Exceptional weekend break.

Liked: Glasshouse restaurant is excellent for variety, people watching and if you get a table on the lower level views outside. The room was spacious but cozy and the bathroom clean, well appointed and large. The grounds, spa, and walled garden pool area were exceptional as always.
Disliked: Only small gripe on this visit was that the water temp in the shower was unstable. It never got extremely hot or cold but should be more stable. The shower also leaked on to the bathroom floor but not enough to bother us. The front desk said they would look into it so hopefully it's fixed for the future.
