Nice room, beautiful setting, awful...
Liked: Beautiful location, executive double has amazing views and is very comfortable. The staff were all very friendly and accommodating. Bathroom was also lovely and felt quite luxurious.
Disliked: The restaurant (and hotel) are owned by a big chain, which isn’t obvious when booking. The food was really sub-par and far too expensive for what we’d say is closer to Wetherspoon quality than a hotel that markets (and charges!) itself as higher-end. Both mains and desserts appeared to be microwaved with sauces from a bottle rather than homemade (do NOT get the desserts, they’re tiny, expensive, and taste artificial.) Two other tables had the same issue as us and complained. In response, the waitress told them that the portion sizes are controlled by head office, not the chefs, and that she’d checked with the chefs that they were following “protocols”. All in all, it felt very much like the character and quality of the restaurant had been sacrificed for profit as is often the case with these big companies. It’s a huge shame, as the wait staff and hotel concierge were absolutely lovely and I couldn’t fault them (even when a guest got quite aggressive towards her). I wish I’d gotten her name, but the waitress who had been working there for 9 years and moved from NW England - you’re a credit to the Groes! The breakfast was similarly disappointing - full English was burnt toast, undercooked bacon, one sausage, one hash brown, beans, and a tiny mushroom. We were lucky that we have the breakfast upgrade included in our price - as the price on the menu is woefully extortionate for what you got. Again, reminiscent of Wetherspoon. The hotel room itself was nice, though the carpet has a large and obvious stain where the radiator has leaked. Also, the bath itself drains slowly whilst full as the plug doesn’t close properly - not something you want after tackling Snowdon!

Lovely stay but little let...
Liked: The location was amazing. The room was lovely with a balcony onto a feel with sheep in and Mountain View’s. Spectacular. The biggest bed I’ve ever seen.
Disliked: The ceiling in the bathroom was peeling off quite considerably. The bathroom mirror was very loose on the wall. Only one small shower gel between the two of us. The food in the restaurant were very small portions. Tasty but small. My partner had sea bass with a very small serving of mash potatoes underneath. We took this up with the manager and he said the brewery had an executive chef that states how much each portion should be as they now have took their menu to a premium standard. Maybe they should state this on the menu then at least you can order a side dish with it. To his credit he did give my partner a free desert. But we weren’t the only ones to complain about the size of the dish. The couple on the table behind us only got four small pieces of lamb on the dinner. The breakfast however was lovely with lots of choice.
