Fabulous hostelry

Liked: It exceeded our expectations for the price we paid. Our double room , bed, towels etc were all very clean and fresh. Liquid Soap, Shamoo and Conditoner were supplied, also a very well stocked drinks tray, always an added bonus. Bed was very comfortable we both slept well and it was very quiet considering its a lovely pub. We had a cooked breakfast which was excellent value for money. Plenty of it, very tasty, and very fresh and cooked and presented perfectly.We would definately stay there again if in the area. Lovely pub with lovely staff.
Disliked: We were in No14. The only thing that would have been better for us personaly ( couple of oldies ) would be the bottom 2 steps and having to bend down to reach the handle to open the exterior door. However I doubt anything could be done to change that. It wouldt stop me staying in the same room again. It just means you are extra cautious

Poor

Disliked: The bed was very creaky and the room was extremely hot, no air con or fan. Breakfast was also very small and poor presentation. I had American pancakes with bacon and maple syrup which consisted of 3 tiny pancakes and 1 piece of streaky bacon placed across the top. Fit for a 5 year old. Very run down from what it used to be

Disliked: When we stayed previously there was fresh coffee at breakfast. This time it was packets of Nescafé, same as the room. You couldn’t have toast unless you had a full English.

Disliked: Stayed here after a wedding at another venue. I would not recommend. This hotel is definitely tired. The room was up a narrow, creaky flight of stairs and it was BOILING! No AC, tiny windows. The mattress felt like it was about 0.0001cm think and filled with gravel chips, it was awful. The carpet had holes in it and looked like it would have been on trend in the 70s. I went into the bathroom and the towel rail was broken and fell off the wall as I opened the door. The shower had good pressure but the temperature did whatever it felt like, I was both scalded and frozen during the shower without touching the controls once. The next day the breakfast was tiny. This was a £50 a night hotel experience which charges £130 for the privilege. I spoke to the wedding venue the next day, they are going to stop recommending this place as there have been so many complaints over the past few months. I would not recommend at all.
