Superb
Liked: From checking in to checking out everything was good
Disliked: I'm really nit picking here but the toast at breakfast could've seen a bit of heat for a minute longer.

Apart from above, good as...
Liked: Location, excellent breakfast and staff in general are friendly.
Disliked: Sadly our room was extremely dusty, it was thick - there was weeks of it.. I mentioned it to reception and I expected it to be cleaned whilst we were out for the day but sadly not!

Renovated but needs improvement in...
Liked: Clean. Comfortable bed. Good quality sheets and towels ok. Shower worked well. Car parking was easy. Glad we were only staying one night and hadn’t arrived earlier.
Disliked: Checking in took too long. The operative was more like a porter, even though it was before 9 pm when we checked in. There was confusion between which of the two of us had which room. The same person operated the ‘bar’. We were the only people using it and it all looked very locked up at first though we were then able to sit outside. Bedrooms facing the station a few yards away; or with the windows open in the rear rooms - it’s very noisy from the main road nearby. Breakfast orders were confused and we both were served a full breakfast when we’d ordered very little. However, the waiting staff were very pleasant.

Great stop over hotel
Liked: We stayed here a few years back and decided to stay again on our way to Plymouth for the ferry. It's got great parking or if you're coming by train the station is across the road. We were able to get a beer while we were waiting to check in, plus they have outside seating front and back of the building. There is no lift so you do have to carry your bags up to the first floor. The rooms are large in size and are very clean. The bed was comfy and the bathroom had a large walk in shower. The only downside was the noise coming from the station and drunk people, but by the time we went to bed, there was no noise, so don't let that put you off. The hotel is within walking distance to the pubs and restaurants. I would recommend the Wildwood which you can't miss in the town. As for the staff here they are all very helpful and friendly. I did feel sorry for the lad at breakfast as there was a bit of a delay with the food due to a problem in the kitchen but we didn't find it a issue. The breakfast was very nice and cooked to order so you expect it to take a bit longer anyway.I would stay here again when travelling down south for sure.
Disliked: Cars blowing their horns all the time at the station but that stopped late at night
