The Great Western Hotel

With a few minor improvements...

Liked: Very close to the train station
Disliked: Tea, coffee and breakfast could be better

Disappointing

Liked: Breakfast was good, the room was clean but basic and the bathroom was nearly as big as the bedroom
Disliked: Check in person was blunt and had obviously had never heard of the words, please or thank you. The hotel is looking a little tired and needs some money spent on it, and finally I booked 2 rooms, one with Booking.com for my wife and I for 2 nights at a cost of £209 and one, a bigger family room directly with the hotel, because it couldn’t be done on line, for 2 nights for £112.!! Moral of the story, book direct!

Would definitely return

Liked: Clean, spacious, and comfortable. Friendly, helpful staff. Best night's sleep away from home I've had in a long time, beds were extrely comfortable. Walking distance from amenities. Would definitely return if I was visiting Taunton again.
Disliked: Wasn't informed the brioche rolls for breakfast had been replaced with burger buns with sesame seeds on. My son is allergic to sesame seeds to the extent he carries epi-pens. We noticed before he started eating, so no problem. But staff need better training on allergens and communicating this to customers when amendments are made.

Very nice hotel in good...

Liked: Very nice room, great facilities. Easy walk into town for shops, eats and drinks. Excellent service , delicious breakfast. Would recommend!
