Liked: The Ponsonby Art Hotel is our accommodation of choice when staying in central Auckland, and this is our 3rd visit. We like is relaxed atmosphere similar to an old fashioned guest house, It is an older building which has been renovated to retain its character. The rooms are clean, and comfortable with their own ensuite, without being sumptuous. We like being able to make ourselves a cup of tea in the lounge or in our room, helpful staff who are available upon arrival and a complimentay wine available. Breakfast is a great time to chat with other guests and we ended up buying ourselves the nicest painting as a result of a random encounter with another guest a year or so ago.Most of all we love its location - with easy access by car or bus (or walking) to the harbour and city centre - a delightful mix of cafes and shops at the end of the street. An 'all the essentials' grocery store is nestled next door to a Travel Agent, right across the road from a Designer Recycling Store, and upmarket clothes further up the street.If you like somewhere relaxed and different - where you can chat with resident locals when out on a walk - while within easy reach of all that a modern CBD has to offer - then I would recommend Ponsonby Art House. We are already planning our next stay

Liked: This is a small but beautufil hotel in a lovely part of Auckland.It is exceptionally quiet, located in a no through road.There are many restaurants and nice shops within 5-10 minute walk.The comfort of the rooms is excellent. Pretty much everything you need is provided.The staff are very friendly and helpful.Very nice breakfast options; the cooked options are limited to 4-5 items but each is great.There is a comfortable communal lounge area with 'honesty bar', lots of books, music etc.Ponsonby is a very nice area and despite being relatively close to the city centre the roads are not too busy.
