Lovely hotel stay, let down...

Liked: A lovely traditional hotel in a Yorkshire market town. The friendly greeting on arrival was matched by the relaxed and efficient attitude of bar and restaurant staff. Food was good, with a wide range, including at breakfast, which was freshly cooked for us.The bedroom (we were told) had been reconfigured six or seven months previously and it was sumptuously decorated, including bedlinen, pictures, padded headboard and modern bathroom tiles.
Disliked: The bedroom (in the Mews block) was totally inadequate in size. There was very little space alongside each side of the bed and the 'desk' was barely deep enough to hold a lamp (it would have been impossible to work there). The bathroom, including a spacious shower cabinet, had almost no room for toilet and hand basin. The latter was the size of a large format paperback book and was right against the wall, making shaving or cleaning teeth an act of random target practice.Access to the Mews block (which stands in the hotel car park, used by many people as a thoroughfare) was via a door with a Yale lock. This however did not lock automatically after closing, allowing anyone access to the accommodation thereafter. This is a serious security risk.

Hotel and cleanliness was amazing...

Liked: Breakfast was lovely and a good selection drinks were good and good selection
Disliked: Staff when checked in and breakfast staff there was an older lady on reception on the Sunday morning when we checked out if she had greeted us day before would of been fine she was the only lady whom was lovely member of staff to us I found staff on various rude as well

Enjoyed the stay, excellent proximity...

Liked: Decor, location excellent.
Disliked: Bathroom was very roomy but bedroom had no luggage space and was quite tight for space.

Overall the hotel was very...

Liked: All the breakfasts and dinners we had were very good.
Disliked: Our room was very small and we had to use a hand towel to wedge the window open.

Disliked: Needs some modernising in its facilities ie old boilers and pipe work which hum all night - squeaky floorboards and water not hot enough for a bath

Disappointing

Disliked: My wife had a accident and was charged £100 pounds the staff did not deal with it well
