Beautiful hotel with loads.of character.

Liked: Breakfast was well worth the money. Beds very comfy, good shower. The staff that we came into contact with were nice. It's an old hotel so expect creaking floor and noisy doors. Plenty of character to this lovely old building. My room view was a tree, a very nice tree but still a tree
Disliked: I did mention to reception on checkout, that a sign by the steps at the front telling you there was a back entrance without steps, would have made my husbands carrying of 2 suitcases alot easier on him. However, the customers on the terrace and myself did.have a giggle.

Disappointed!

Liked: Location and the impressive facade.
Disliked: It's well over due a refurb! It was probably THE place to go 50 years ago! The reception area carpet was filthy! Worn carpet on the stairs/corridors. Bathroom had a foul odour. Mismatched bathroom suite, debris/dirt on floor behind bathroom door. Windows were filthy with seriously chipped paintwork. Bathroom door in need of repainting. We got a discounted rate and I still think it was over priced. Parking was an issue too.

enjoyable

Liked: Everyone helpful including responding well and helpful with GF diet. Breakfast plated in kitchen to avoid cross contamination, and we were sat in seperate dining area with the dogs which was great. Evening food was lovley.
Disliked: would be better to pay per room for dogs and not per animal. I accept rooms need a extra clean if pets have been there, therefor it should be per room and not per animal. also that cost should go to the cleaner , its just another tax given to corporate company and the hard working person doing the job doesn't see.
