The George Hotel

Nice hotel, disappointed in the...

Liked: Nice big bedroom with very comfy bed. The food in the restaurant was lovely and restaurant staff friendly and knowledgable. Dog friendly everywhere in the hotel which was great as we brought our dog with us and he was given treats and water and made welcome.
Disliked: The barman in the whisky bar knew nothing about whisky and openly admitted that which was really disappointing as one of the reasons we were attracted to the George was its whisky snug and had seen its won awards. Staff working in a whisky bar should be given some basic training about what they’re selling. We had a nice room but it was two beds pushed together to make a double and so had a gap in the middle. For the price we paid for the room, would have expected a proper double bed.

Liked: Upscale, clean, quirky, large rooms, excellent food and wait staff
Disliked: No electric outlet in bathroom!!! After struggling to blow dry my hair in a corner with no mirror I was so frustrated. Next morning spied an outlet low on the wall, slightly obscured, next to the tall cabinet. Front of that cabinet had a tall mirror which I could have used but had no idea the outlaws even there. Poor information from the management about conveniences in the bedroom.

Liked: The atmosphere at the George is great, with very friendly staff and you are in the heart of Inverary, should you want to explore. We were just travelling through but our one night there allowed us to rest and recuperate well after a long journey in from the Western Isles and before starting the long journey south. This included a good supper in the George restaurant soon after we arrived mid-evening: all part of the George experience.

Great location, beautiful place with...

Liked: Great location, lovely food, super friendly and help staff. Most importantly I felt comfortable as a single female traveller to eat and have a drink in the evening. Everyone was friendly and welcoming.
Disliked: Having stayed here before, in different rooms I high high expectations I guess. Room 24 was lovely and plenty room. Very minor point, but the bathroom needed some repairs and painting.

Outstanding as always.

Liked: We have stayed at the George multiple times and have never been disappointed. The staff are always very welcoming and friendly, rooms are always very clean and furnished to a high standard. It is a perfect location for exploring the highlands and islands in a stunning location with outstanding food.
