Liked: It was a little dated, but very comfortable and the pub was great. Definitely recommend stopping in Orton on the C2C!

Lovely pub convenient for Coast...

Liked: we stayed in the family room, which was convenient for our group of 3 walking the C2C.
Disliked: a table of a large group were adjacent to the food table and it was difficult to get food (it was a bit crammed).

Very good

Liked: The friendliest staff. So helpful and welcoming. Even ket ys check in early, which is always a bonus.

Disappointing

Liked: The atmosphere in the bar was pleasant and the evening meal entirely acceptable.
Disliked: The room rate for bed and breakfast was £145.00 for the night. The bathroom was miniscule. To wash face/brush teeth you had to stand side on to the basin as there was insufficient room otherwise to bend over the basin. Breakfast was advertised as continental but we have never been presented with such a miserable choice. Two types of processed cheese and some fatty looking salamis. White bread only. Tea served in mug with bag still in. In fairness there were cereals and a yoghurt was offered. WiFi was very poor. In short, the room rate was simply very poor value for money.

Adequate overnight stay in Orton

Liked: Nice welcoming staff. The evening meal was OK but not great. The room was good with a comfortable bed and nice decor. Decent ales.
Disliked: The shower cubicle was very small and tight.Breakfast was only a very basic continental style, which should have been specified.A one night stay was too expensive for what it was.

Pleasant

Liked: All the staff very friendly and welcoming, the location and room was fine, bar meals were good.
Disliked: On booking.com breakfast is advertised as continental or à la carte. Only continental was on offer (no mention at check-in). The server was very apologetic (also surprised at no cooked option), particularly as all guests were walkers on the C2C. The standard items were ok including sliced meats/cheeses but no other protein options (eg, boiled eggs). The 'pastries' were not nice: cellophane-wrapped and clearly long-life versions. Coffee came from a dispensing machine, seemed weak and watery. Poor impersonation of a continental breakfast.

Great location, friendly and helpful...

Liked: The evening meal was very good. Friendly staff.
Disliked: I was disappointed to learn on arrival that there wasn't a Full English Breakfast option.
