Liked: The room we were in had the best bathroom. It was comfy and had everything you would need. it does not come with tea making facilities but complimentary drinks were offered. The hotel has several reception areas. very comfortable and homely. Staff attention was exceptional.
Disliked: The weekend we visited the main access road was closed. we were in sight of the hotel but couldn,t get to it. We had to make a very long detour to gain access. A heads up upon booking would have been great.

We had a very enjoyable...

Liked: Beautiful old coaching inn located close to the town centre. Understated, attentive and excellent service from all the staff in the hotel who go out of their way to accommodate your needs. The oak room is a lovely traditional dining room which serves wonderful roast beef cut to your liking from a large joint on the serving trolley. Just lovely.
Disliked: The double room was a little small but it had a good sized ensuite bathroom. Nevertheless we still had an excellent stay and still highly recommend the hotel.

We have fallen in love...

Liked: The George was superb , an absolute gem. Plenty of staff who were polite, pleasant, efficient and paid attention to detail. The menu for breakfast ( table service) was extensive and the food was delicious. We had dinner twice during in our three night stay and loved it - especially eating in the charming, partially covered courtyard.

Exceptional

Liked: The George is quintessentially old English. Staff fantastic, rooms lovely, breakfast exceptional. A bit pricey outside London but worth it.

A lovely old hotel with...

Liked: Very near railway station, comfortable bars and lounges
Disliked: I was a long way from reception and there were various stairs to negotiate. A comment on the website to explain the layout would have been helpful so I might have asked to be nearer reception if possible.
