Was ok for a short...

Liked: Large room, good quality linens on bed and white towels. Friendly staff. Highly recommend the breakfast selection.
Disliked: Limited plug sockets. Full extension lead by the bathroom. Window only opened about 1cm as limited by locked lead. Had to sleep with fire exit door open for any air, with bright security lights outside so not ideal. Small plug in fan supplied with little effect. Room next to and above kitchen, so loud start up of ?aircon or extractor fan system outside from 6am/ish. Decor quite tired looking

Liked: Very comfortable room. Attentive staff.
Disliked: The breakfasts were very good but the food at dinner was not to the same standard

Liked: The older parts of the building, bar and restaurant were attractively characterful
Disliked: Upstairs was very tired - chipped paintwork in the corridors and poor carpets

Liked: The staff were very good especially Miles who was very efficient, friendly and approachable
Disliked: The decor of the hotel in the common parts was a little below par, new carpets and a few coats of paint would be good.

History at its best

Liked: The staff are all exceptional and could not do enough for us. The George Hotel is old but beautiful with so much character. The breakfast was top quality and everything served with a smile. I throughly enjoyed my stay and would be back. So loved the history of the Hotel and embracing it, loved it, even the wonkly floors and small doors.
Disliked: Loved everything

Revel in the Tudor style

Liked: An immediate friendly welcome with a smile from the staff and manager. The hotel is steeped in history and it is evident in the bar/restaurant rooms, stairs, walls etc, you will revel in the Tudor style of the place. The bathroom may not be modern enough for some, but it was clean and adequate with lovely towels.
