A decent stay but there...

Liked: The location was great and everything is within walking distance. Parking wasn't too bad as there is a street right beside the building where parking is free and easy. The staff was great, especially Kennedy. The rooms and common areas are well preserved in their historic charm. It is nice that they offer a Happy Hour and wine and dessert later in the evening.
Disliked: The breakfast was not that great. Whenever we go on vacation, we stay at B and B's. This one had the worst breakfast of them all. Our room, the Mary Hillyer had a weird setup. The toilet is in a room separate on the other side of the bed and opposite the sink and shower room. The room also had adjoining doors on both sides to other rooms. On our second night, the next-door neighbors decided to fight at 1 am. The adjoining doors make it easy to hear a commotion in the other 2 rooms. Many of the rooms share a balcony with another room so leaving curtains open isn't an option if you want privacy.

A perfect get away to...

Liked: Everything was exceptional. The friendly staff went over expectations. The breakfast, wine and appetizers and nightly dessert made the Gastonian Inn a place we plan to return.
Disliked: The only thing we felt could be improved is the upkeep of the outside garden areas and pergola.

I would come back here

Liked: Happy hour wine and apps especially the tea sandwiches, the fire place in the room, the spaciousness, Christmas decorations, all of the friendly staff was amazing and attentive, the beauty of the building and the surrounding area, the pecan french toast, biscuits, breakfast casserole, and potatoes
Disliked: The pancakes were a bit doughy
