Decent and cheap place but...

Liked: Comfortable beds, nice that they give you free tea and coffee. Also it?s quite clean.
Disliked: The cleaners talking loudly outside in the corridors at like 5/6am in the morning, not only that I don?t appreciate them knocking on the bedroom door as soon as the clock hits 11am, like give us a chance to leave, yes the check out time is 11 but you could wait like 10 minutes if we?re not out by then. Also maybe they should be getting on with their jobs rather than talking loudly when people are trying to sleep!

Stay at the Gardens. It's...

Liked: The people - the staff are really wonderful
Disliked: Its a cracking place - but the reasonable prices attract the occasional "scratter" guest

Disappointing - 2 out of 5

Good basic hotel.

Liked: The breakfasts were nice and generous, the room was clean, and the hotel was surprisingly well insulated from external noise from the street considering it was in central Manchester. The bar was pleasantly decorated and the staff were friendly.
Disliked: My stay was fine for most of the time, although facilities were very basic, but that was okay considering the price. However, the nights weren't great. For the first two nights, I was disturbed by the sound of doors slamming, people coming in and out, and one particular guest talking extremely loudly on her phone well into the early hours both nights. The latter isn't the hotel's fault, but perhaps better sound insulation and stoppers on the doors to prevent slamming would be a useful investment. Sadly, it got worse on the final night, when a fire alarm was set off at 2am, and again at about 2.30am. There was little to no communication about what was going on as the guests stood bleary-eyed outside the front of the hotel near Piccadilly Gardens for about 40 minutes (which felt like hours) waiting for the police and fire engines to pass. I checked out because I was working the next day and was nervous that the fire alarm would go off again, leaving me without sleep. Therefore I missed the breakfast I'd paid for on the following day, and the stay was ruined. The irony was that I was staying to get away from noisy building works in my own house.

Liked: Room was very nice, smaller than previous but still very happy, only downside was that it was a very hot day and the window was broken Breakfast was much nicer this time
Disliked: Only downside was the broken window, especially given the hot weather

Poor - 1 out of 5

I wouldn?t let my mum...

Liked: Not very much. The hotel is really dilapidated and would not recommend it to anyone.
Disliked: Cleanliness was poor, it looked untended and just needs re decorating inside and out.You should try and build a better relationship with locals to avoid the egging and flowering. Maybe provide some free stuff for them to take to avoid the horrendous mess.
