Busy bank holiday weekend but...

Liked: Room was a good size and good remote location
Disliked: Not usually one to complain - but there was no hot water so couldn’t shower, 3 mugs and 2 glasses in the room for a party of 4, glasses on all outside tables on arrival that remained for hours, mega slow disinterested service, undercooked breakfast that we couldn’t eat. Was told we couldn’t have a table for food but was staying the evening so saw several empty tables for the rest of the evening (ended up having to order a takeaway). Lamp that randomly turned on at 3am. Ordered 3 lime cordials and 1 pint, £17. Car alarm going off for an hour middle of the night (I know not related). Staff walking round slow and disinterested despite very busy

DO NOT STAY! AVOID!! The...

Liked: DO NOT STAY! AVOID!! The property is a scam!
Disliked: DO NOT STAY! AVOID!! The property is a scam! The manager Paige refused to let myself and my husband in on our WEDDING NIGHT! She charged us the morning after the wedding night even though I never saw the inside of the hotel or our room!!! Booking.com has done NOTHING!!!We had just finished from our reception - as expected weddings can be busy and drag 10 mins over - we turned up in a dark car park with no lights. We thought it was the wrong location so drive around it for a few minutes - I called the venue and no one would answer. We then got a return call from the manager who said no body was in site to let us in! I was alarmed and said there must be out of hours service so we will wait - politely said it is fine to sit and wait but she wouldn’t accept it.We were left abit confused and began looking for other hotels. By this time it was approaching 11pm or midnight - it was bank holiday weekend and there was a huge event in sheffield so we already knew the hotels were full as we had family staying in hotels.Paige called me back and said if you follow the link and pay, I will let you in. We couldn’t understand how she suddenly was inside the property but during our last conversation she was no where near. We were confused but out of desperation of not ruining my wedding night - I tried to follow the link. It wasn’t working as the internet was so low in a remote area - I asked whether we could come inside and pay in the machine and again were refused. After getting her to send this link to my husbands email - I saw the horrible heartless soul had tried to charge us more than double the amount - she used the excuse of me not warning her beforehand about the delay and that’s why we had to pay more . Also the link I was sent was not working at all! This kept loading an error page - this indicated that she had cancelled the link and tried charging more - taking advantage of our desperation!.

Good place to set off...

Liked: Great location for walking. Can literally set off on a National Trust path from the property itself. Plenty of car parking space. Quaint old building. Accommodation away from the pub, so fairly quiet. Large room. Comfortable bed. Good shower.
Disliked: A bit of lack of attention to detail in the bedroom: some cobwebs, only one plastic glass in the bathroom, wonky toilet seat.

Nice inn, but needs AC...

Liked: Cool inn and great location in the Peak District. Longshaw National Trust right across the road. Great hikes and great area. Beautiful historic building and pub.
Disliked: Family room was beautiful but very stuffy and hot. Needs to either have AC or the ability to open many more windows. Only one window able to open a crack, rest of the windows have fixed an unable open at all. Bit claustrophobic to be honest.
