The stay was spoiled because...

Liked: Breakfast was a good selection and of high quality.
Disliked: There was an old air conditioning unit located immediately outside the bedroom window which made a constant disruptive noise. When I complained to staff, I was informed that it could not be turned off as it was used to cool the beer and if it was turned off the beer would get warm. They undertook to turn it off at 2200. I have never heard of an air conditioning unit being used to cool beer. The cooling system is usually housed in the cellar adjacent to the beer kegs. The extractor fan in the bathroom was inoperative so any unpleasant odours from the toilet could not be dispelled.

Liked: Breakfast very good. Staff friendly and helpful. Location excellent
Disliked: Our room (no 7) overall was disappointing, pokey, small and we thought quite shabby. The view was non-existent (looking out onto what we thought was some sort of large air conditioning unit. A fridge would have been a bonus.

Disliked: The stairs to get to your room are old and narrow for negotiating luggage.

Olde worldle charm

Liked: Beautifully presented old building with lovely decor. Very attentive staff and would go out of their way to help you. Food was delicious both breakfast and dinner. Will certainly return on our next visit to Cirencester.

Disliked: Very tired interiors. Light not working in room. WiFi wouldn’t connect in room. ‘Oh, you need to go down to the bar to get reception to connect’. There was a folded-up fold-up bed in the corridor outside our room. Why? Food very average and not cheap

Liked: The rooms were nice and clean, we actually upgraded our room and received a further upgrade on arrival
Disliked: We arrived early and asked could we get in the room early, the room wasn’t ready and I headed to the bar to buy me and my partner a drink (and paid at the bar), just before check in we decided to go and get our bags, as we passed the check in desk we were followed by two members of staff, the lady at check in told us the room was ready but the two other staff was clearly talking about us so my partner asked politely, is everything ok, only to be asked did we pay for our drinks, I turned and said yes I paid at the bar, the response to my surprise wasn’t an apology but “well you look like the people who didn’t pay! Not a great start!! Went and got our bags from the car park to get our bags.. 10 minute round trip and then got stopped going to the room by one of the said staff to be told you need to check in first.. I already have was my response.For our second night we booked for an evening meal, I can only say this was poor and not value for money.
