Nice place but felt hugely...

Liked: Beautiful quirky property with lovely town surroundings. Restaurant and bar staff were super warm, friendly and accommodating.
Disliked: Extremely noisey room. Something wrong with a water system they suggested. A possible issue always in this room but staff not letting on apart from a bat man who said he knew what it was. Noise did not stop all night but no other rooms to move too. Manager said the noise was loud when alerted to it as it did not cease. The next morning no mention was made of it and for the amount per room this was wholly unacceptable. I did complain which I wouldn’t normally do and the price was lowered by a measly amount considering. Room 26 or 28.

Weekend stay

Liked: The breakfast was good.There was loud music playing from 10:30pm to 2am coming from the room below us. My partner, who was unwell and was not wearing earplugs was kept awake until I woke at 2am and went to ask the night porter for help. The night porter was helpful in sourcing where the music was coming from and thankfully it stopped with her intervention.
Disliked: The bedroom felt stuffy, small and overly hot. As written below we did have a noise Issue that tainted our experience. The management team had very little to say in the way of apologizing for the issue we had endured on the first night of our stay. There was constant loud music playing from 10:30pm to 2am. My partner who was unwell and who did not have earplugs was kept awake by the music. It transpires the noise was coming from the room directly below us. The night porter was helpful however it meant getting up at 2am and leaving our room as there was no phone in the room to use to call reception from, or any information/phone numbers for us to use to call from our mobiles. Although the night porter was helpful, friendly and apologetic it would have been even more helpful if she knew where the ear plugs were kept at reception.I felt the management/reception staff were somewhat dismissive of my concerns regarding whether the people that caused the noise were staying again the following night. There was no offer to move rooms or apologies for not being able to accommodate this as an option. There was no offer of earplugs until I asked. For a "5 star" establishment I would have expected management to seek us out at breakfast, apologise for the issue and offer a solution or good will gesture.
