Very good

Liked: The restaurant and staff were excellent. The staff went out of their way to be friendly and helpful. We eat out regularly, and this was one of the best restaurants we have come across.
Disliked: The bedrooms were not air-conditioned in the bedrooms. Road noise was very loud with the windows open.

Very pretty and well staffed...

Liked: The hotel is very pretty and nicely laid out, we were lucky to have sunshine so the restaurant garden looked welcoming on arrival. My room was nicely styled and the bathroom looked new. Staff were friendly (and a bit quirky) bustling about between hotel and restaurant. We had dinner on the property which was as good as you would eat anywhere and highly recommended.
Disliked: It was a hot night and the hotel is on a main road so opening the window was too noisy. The rooms have no air conditioning and the fan supplied did a lot of spinning but didn't actually move any air - not sure how that happens. Assume on cooler nights this isn't an issue.

Good staff, well trained and...

Liked: Reception was friendly and helpful and were then shown to our rooms, (which you don’t always get these days). Food was exceptional and staff were knowledgeable and well trained. We had booked a late Sunday lunch as the restaurant was closed from Sunday evening to Tuesday evening. The alcove we were given was cozy and comfortable, adding to the enjoyment of our meal. Breakfast was available to pre-book at various time slots and was unhurried, with continental breakfast options available too. Rooms were clean and well appointed but pillows were uncomfortable.
Disliked: The hotel is situated on the A41 with the resulting constant transit of lorries outside our window very noisy, even through the night. This is an old building, having the benefit of secondary glazing to protect from drafts etc. but this was missing from the balcony door (room No. 4), making the room quite cold and noisy. After our late lunch we went to sit in the bar but were told it was now closed and there was no other communal area to relax in.
