Perfect location for a city...

Liked: The hotel is lovely, and the staff could not have been more accommodating. Our room was comfortable, and the bathroom shower was heavenly. Breakfast was nice, but the tea was diabolical. I tried to make one three times, and the water tasted foul. The location was perfect! It is just 15 15-minute walk into town through the park along the river, and on a gorgeous day, it is such a lovely way to explore.
Disliked: However, one of my main reasons for choosing the hotel was the spa and unfortunately, when we tried to use it on Saturday night we found the chlorine level to be so high that our eyes were watering and I had an allergic reaction which impacted my breathing. I was only in the pool for a couple of minutes before I gave up. I don't like to be dramatic, but I have never experienced a reaction like this. it was scary. My swimsuit has also faded from just the 5 minutes that I spent in the pool, which is so disappointing. From the second we walked into the pool area at 8.30, you could feel the strength of the chlorine. I was relieved then when 3 other families/couples came in and said the same thing. One group were in fact former competitive swimmers, and they mentioned that in all their years of competitive swimming, they had never had a chlorine reaction like it.All of us had changed our Saturday night plans to come home early and enjoy the pool/spa. Disappointed by the pool, we moved onto the steam room and found it be cold. There was no jug to pour enough water to make it properly steamy. I went to reception, but it was impossible to resolve the situation, so we went to bed early, which felt like such a waste of a lovely night. When the reason you choose a hotel is the pool it sucks when you can't use it. Also, I was told on arrival I had been given an update on my room, which I found to be a kitchen that I did not need for one night, which was bizarre. When I tried to make a cup of tea, I couldn't drink it because the kettle had been descaled but still had chemical residue in it. Looking at my bill today, I also think I might have been overcharged. I paid £280 for a room £207 and two breakfasts £17 each. That's £39 less??If I ever visit Cambridge I would stay here again if the spa is in full working order and more care is taken over the cleaning/maintenance of the rooms and facilities.

Liked: Location is great, facilities are excellent. Staff were very cheerful and accommodating.
Disliked: The sauna and pool were fine, although a bit small. Parking is tight, and a bit expensive.

Liked: Beautiful hotel and great location only a 10 minute walk into the city.
Disliked: Checked into the room and it smelt of smoke, the hotel changed our room which was fine. Went for an evening meal in the hotel my wife couldn't eat hers it was that bad. The staff were very poor and service poor and considering there is a service charge on everything there shouldn't be any problems.
