Comfortable, friendly and well positioned...

Liked: Great location for access to the city centre and cathedral. Good sized comfortable family room. Conveniently situated paid car park. Friendly staff and a good breakfast. The hotel has a nice friendly atmosphere.
Disliked: Our room was generally quiet but a loud boiler kept kicking in at various intervals which was disturbing. Although there were three in our group, the bathroom was only set for two (towels and, nice touch otherwise, dressing gowns). I did ask for an extra towel which was promised but not delivered.

Would recommend staying here but...

Liked: We got upgraded to a classic double room and the room was fantastic, however a little noisy from the road outside.
Disliked: The breakfast was quite a disappointment. The continental part of the breakfast was almost non-existent and the dishes from the à la carte menu was bland.

Staff could do better.

Liked: Beautiful old building set in a fantastic location. Food was nice, check in staff were lovely.
Disliked: The bar staff. Absolutely miserable. Up until ordering drinks, the stay was amazing. The bar staff just put a dampener on the atmosphere. Such a shame. Would we stay again. Absolutely not.

Warm, welcoming and very comfortable!...

Liked: I really enjoyed my stay here. The whole place had a warm, tasteful feel — both the rooms and the shared spaces. Cosy, comfortable, and clearly done with care. Nothing bland or generic. We were upgraded to a junior suite, which was a lovely surprise. The room was clean, spacious, had a great bed and a good bathroom. Everything worked, everything felt solid. You could tell they paid attention to detail. The reception was welcoming and friendly. The hotel is in a perfect spot — right in the heart of Canterbury — and still very affordable, which honestly makes it feel like a bit of a hidden gem.Just a very pleasant, characterful place to stay. I’d happily come back.
