Quite a mixed experience.
Liked: The staff were lovely. The bed was comfortable. The food was tasty.
Disliked: There was hot weather during our visit. Our room (#19) was very hot and we could get no breeze in the window. We were warned not to drink the water from the tap, and there was no ice machine in the hotel and no refrigerator in the room. We could ask for water at the bar, but it wasn't open all the time. Quite uncomfortable. Wifi was poor, as was the phone signal. I had an emergency for which I needed to be in touch with people from home, and it was difficult. Days after making a non-refundable booking for 4 nights, we were informed that there were 2 proms during our stay that would limit restaurant use (1 night neither restaurant available; the other night 1 of 2 restaurants available). Then 2 days into our stay, signs went up saying we couldn't park out front for the rest of the week because of the proms. We chose the hotel based on accessibility, since my husband has spinal damage. I asked at the desk whether the blue badge bays would be available and was told they would be. They weren't; there were beer kegs sitting in all bays. We used the parking across the street but (a) that limited our willingness to go out, as parking was not sufficient for all guests and (b) we had to clean enormous amounts of bird droppings off the car when we did go out. For some reason, parents of prom goers congregated at the front of the hotel, which made walking in and out difficult. And, presumably for enjoyment of prom goers, before dinnertime a very loudly amplified singer was singing to an empty garden under our window, so we had to close our window to hear ourselves talking. In all, we feel that hotel guests were treated as secondary to prom guests, which is not what we expect from hotels we frequent. Serving your community by hosting proms is a worthy goal, but this hotel isn't set up to do that simultaneously with hosting room guests.

Liked: From the moment we walked into reception and found a very helpful and informative receptionist until we checked out we felt very comfortable in our surroundings. Loved everything about our stay. Room was perfect, food was perfect.

Liked: Location was beautiful. Breakfast was spot on great range to choose from you certainly didn't leave hungry. We had an evening meal in the Coach House the food was fabulous again alot for you money.
Disliked: As the weather was warm so was the room so I had the window open. The noise from the pub next door was very loud, so had to close the window which did block all the noise. Saving grace was a fan found in the wardrobe did help a little with the room heat.
