This modern Golf and Country Club Hotel is 4 miles from Marks Hall Gardens and Arboretum and 9 miles from Braintree Shopping Village. The Essex is the perfect place to stay in this beautiful countryside location. Colchester Britain's oldest recorded town is just a 20 minute drive where you can visit the historic Castle and Colchester Zoo. The stylish rooms all include flat-screen TVs free WiFi and have tea and coffee making facilities available. The club offers an 18-hole championship golf course and a 9-hole garden course as well as a driving range. There are also 3 private meeting spaces that can host between 10-180 guests for both conferences Weddings and other special occasions. Nice hotel

Liked: Staff were very friendly, the room was clean and comfortable and conveniently located.
Disliked: Our room was located on the ground floor and we could hear a lot of footsteps and running via children above us. The breakfast area was not cleaned properly. The tea station was unorganised and we had to constantly ask the staff who were behind the bar area for a lot of assistance.

Lack of sleep

Liked: All the facilities
Disliked: The noise coming from the bathroom was horrendous, some kind of plumbing issue, so we did not get any sleep. When we explained to the staff the following morning, all we got was an apology

Was a lovely place to...

Liked: The view of the golf course from our room. The use of the swimming pool, sauna and steam room at no extra charge was a lovely touch. Staff were exceptionally friendly.
Disliked: No fridge in the room. Bathroom wasn’t the cleanest and there were limited toiletries. Toilet paper was really thin (cheap), TV in room is tiny (but I guess no an essential thing). Would be nice if the Kitchen & Bar could stay open later.
