Clean but showing its age.

Liked: Clean but old and showing it. Less opulent than aged. It's iconic, but also busted. Staying on 6th near all the bars meant we fell asleep listening to pounding music and police sirens.

Passable

Liked: Great location, hands down the best part of the experience.
Disliked: Beyond the location, everything else was mediocre for the price. The staff could care less that you?re there, and the experience overall was underwhelming for the price that we paid. I at least expected a luxurious room but I?ve had better experiences at motels.

Very good

Liked: The location was good and close to everything. I should have researched and known better than staying there during the 4th of July would be crazy (and the surrounding blocks dirty) especially being on 6th street.

The hotel is beautiful but...

Liked: i liked the location, i liked the size of the room and loved the balcony (but i upgraded to one of the suites I don't know what the standard rooms look like), i liked the hotel's history and its beauty, the food in the cafe was really good, i enjoyed the bar.
Disliked: The hospitality was terrible. The exception was the café. The front desk seemed more interested in talking to each other than helping the guests. The valet was no where to be found when when we arrived. We received no help or offer to help with our luggage when we arrived or when we left. The trolley had a flat tire and was a nightmare to push, that was very shameful. We were not directed to our suite and had to walk around aimlessly for at least 10 min trying to find it - until finally we went back down to the front desk who was not helpful at all and neither were the signs, she finally called someone to help us. Finally someone came to show us where our room was (255 Heritage suite) - which with a little bit of direction and the name of the room we may have found, though not likely. i was given a discount on the upgrade but i would not have paid the full fair the smell of the hotel is almost unbearable and we almost choose another hotelWe weren't informed about the internet or breakfast, no one was helpful in any of these things. Housekeeping was very bad. I understand Covid but they didn't make the bed during our 3 night stay. On the second and third day they didn't empty the trash or replenish the coffee. It was a poor example for a Hyatt property. Also, again I know the hotel is an old landmark, but it shouldn't smell like one. The smell was terrible - absolutely unacceptable for the price per night

Very good

Liked: The property is exquisite. My room was very comfortable. I didn't have breakfast.
Disliked: The website needs to be updated to reflect current hours and amenities. I came back to have a nigh cap in the bar, which had already closed. I read that it would be open until 1 am.

My experience was so bad...

Liked: The hotel's architecture was very nice and authentic.
Disliked: Austin is a mess with all the homeless people running around the streets. There is even a hostel across the street from the main entrance of the hotel, that attracts the homeless. Parking is $55.00 per night!! When I booked the room my cost was $580, after paying for parking, hotel fees, and taxes our stay was well over $900 for three nights. Due to power conservation the air conditioning contently shut off, leaving the room very hot. Most of the ice machines, and the ATM machine were broke. The cost to eat breakfast or eat in the bar was way too high. This hotel is not even close to being worth the money. Save your money and stay at a motel 6 you will have a better experience.

Liked: Great location, really comfy beds, very clean hotel
Disliked: No room service available, empty minibar, one of their elevators wasn't working properly, the Driskill bar lacked staff and the staff available (at the bar) was not very helpful, breakfast at the Cafe & bakery was not very good.
