Perfect countryside escape, warm cosy...
Liked: Everything you would expect from a warm cosy countryside feel and the look of the property is beautiful
Disliked: Nothing only thing was parking but we parked in the hotel next door that is also owned by the same owners

Highly Recommended
Liked: Beautiful property in a perfect location. Our room was comfortable, fabulously decorated with a number of excellent features. For example the slipper bath and fabulous toiletries.
Disliked: A small amount of noise from upstairs.

Disapointing.
Liked: The cheese.
Disliked: IMO the Double Red Duke is nothing more than a village pub with very expensive rooms, 19 in fact but only 6 parking spaces, a problem from the outset. Our room was large but lacked any seating. The bathroom was quirky but impractical, no level surfaces for toiletries or a charging point for a toothbrush. The wash hand basin was a large porcelain trough, an example of the impractical. The WC a large wooden seated Victorian style affair with a high level cistern. Very clumsy and not very elegant. The shower lacked any grab rails. Wet floors and ageing limbs demand something to hold on to in order to avert an accident. For our meal we were shown to a small round table, barely big enough for a plant pot! My plate had a 25mm chunk missing from it and we were left without any cutlery to eat it our food with. Our wine “was put on display” in the bar, far from our table in the conservatory. Sadly no one brought it to top up our glasses and it took three requests before it was brought to our table. In our opinion the starters and main courses were barely average but the cheese most agreeable.Hot breakfast at additional cost was very much a surprise and not at all what would be expected. My wife’s breakfast cup had an obvious brown tannin mark all around the inside of the rim.
