Fantastic motel but the LOUD...

Liked: Lovely peaceful location, beautiful uplifting modern decor, comfortable bed, nice bathroom with excellent soap, lotion, shampoo, etc. Appreciated the little fridge, microwave and little table. Nice to be able to check in with people at Caribou Lodge rather than completely self service. Parking right outside our main floor door.
Disliked: The GE wall heater/air conditioning fan unit is very windy and unbearably loud - well beyond white noise. There is no way to turn down the intense fan speed using the wall thermostat. It was like being in a commercial kitchen with a high powered hood fan. I called and a guy came to our room, I could tell this was a very common complaint. He showed us the fuse box and how to turn off the continuous bathroom fan, which is loud as well. We wound up turning off the fuse for the GE heater/A/C wall unit as well, for the night, since it wasn't extremely cold outside.Whoever did the plumbing did not do a good job. The toilet was not secured to the floor and would move around. The toilet would not flush properly, it would not refill properly, and the flapper would constantly get stuck. It seems like a very cheap problematic toilet to have in a motel room. The shower faucet handle was loose and crooked. The look and size of the bathroom is beautiful, but at closer inspection, it was not very well renovated.We come to Banff often and would love to return to this cute motel but not unless or until they replace the GE wall units.

Very good

Liked: The room was clean, with good appliances for making tea and coffee. They kept out luggage in the locker the last day. They had a free pass for the busses (which we had however to ask for, they didn't offer it).
Disliked: The reception is away in another hotel, as well as all the services like the spa, sauna, and restaurant. It is quite far a walking distance from the center.
