Lovely spot to explore the...

Liked: Lovely and helpful service, in spite of the restaurant being closed down. They kindly let us charge our car for free.
Disliked: It was unfortunate that the restaurant was closed down.Seems to have a good reputation. The city should really solve the safety issue and let them get back to work.

Disappointing - 2 out of 5

Disappointing

Liked: The property itself is very nice. My problem is that Booking.com does not mention anything about no food, restaurant or bar. Not available due to a sinkhole. Instead, it’s buried at the very end of the description. And if you just go by the reviews, it looks like a great place. Very deceiving, and driving into town on those narrow roads with no street lights while it’s raining is an accident waiting to happen. It’s a shame because I knew it would’ve been great if they were open.
Disliked: No bar no restaurant in Booking.com does not make mention of that until they’re very end of the property description which I’m sure no one reads

Great location for a short...

Liked: Stayed in the Hibiscus room which is in the converted roof of the cottage. Nice mix of quaint wooden beams and a 'Hobbit Hole' door to the bedroom - with modern touches such as colour-adjustable mood lighting and quietly efficient aircon. Bed very comfortable and everywhere looked very clean.
Disliked: No fault of the pub, but the bar and restaurant were closed due to subsidence in the car park. Would love to revisit when it is fully open. Drop of oil on the bedroom door would be good as very creaky.

A most enjoyable stay in...

Liked: We loved the expansive bedroom & bathroom, we didn't make use of the bath but it looked like it would have been very relaxing... if only we had time! The bed was large and very comfortable and watching TV from bed was very easy and comfortable which is often not the case in hotel rooms. Facilities were great, iron, ironing board, hair-dryer all as promised, fresh milk for tea was a pleasant surprise. We were fortunate to be able to park very close to the room, a bonus for us, especially as we arrived home late from a wedding one night. Lidia was a delight to deal with. A suggestion during the unfortunate closure of the restaurant would be to include a couple of small cartons of UHT milk in the fridge and some small packets of cereal, a couple of bowls and spoons, whether guests choose to enjoy these would be up to them but just being able to have something in the morning would be good.
Disliked: Unfortunately both (Roman) blinds in the bathroom were broken, as there were no strings threaded through the blinds, this fact must have been known by the hosts. This meant the bathroom was unduly dark. We did manage to manually place one of the blinds on its rod which did provide some light. Both windows are positioned in such a way that privacy was also an issue when we did wind the blinds manually, the windows should both have a sheer blind to allow light but preserve privacy, just as the windows in the main room have. We were also unable to turn the bathroom lights off! The shower from the roof in the shower room needs to be descaled I think, only about 20% of the holes were actually letting water through, the hand-held was great though. Unfortunately, due to issues beyond their control, the hotel restaurant was closed and they were therefore unable to offer breakfast.

Pleasant stay for one night.

Liked: Location was good. No breakfast.
Disliked: There was a dead moth and spider in the bathroom and a strange orange mark that could have been eggs. The bathroom drawers were dirty.

Expensive experience..

Disliked: The property is beautiful but very expensive for what you get. I think for the price, the establishment could provide a shower cap as you have no choice but to get absolutely soaked in the shower. The bed was comfortable but one is always conscious of hitting your head - as the ceiling is very low and the layout of the room and bathroom is quirky but not practical.
