The Spotlight on The Dixie Hollywood Hotel

Retro Cool & Budget-Friendly in the Heart of Hollywood

Just off the iconic Hollywood Boulevard, The Dixie Hollywood Hotel offers a laid-back, vintage vibe perfect for travelers wanting to be close to the action without breaking the bank. Located just one block from the Hollywood-Western Metro Station and only 1.5 miles from the Hollywood Walk of Fame, it’s an ideal base for exploring LA’s legendary music scene. With an outdoor pool and sun deck, this hotel adds a splash of California cool to your stay.

Why Concert-goers love it

This hotel is all about location and convenience. With quick metro access and major venues like the Hollywood Bowl and Fonda Theatre just minutes away, it’s easy to catch your show and be back in your room in no time. The 24-hour reception is a plus for late-night returns, and the rooms are equipped with a mini-fridge and microwave—perfect for midnight snacks. It’s also a relatively quiet spot compared to hotels right on the tourist strip, giving you space to recharge post-show.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends looking for an affordable and central crash pad
  • Solo travelers ticking that bucket-list concert off the list
  • Couples making a weekend of Hollywood’s music scene
  • Fans who prefer a quieter place to unwind after the encore
  • Budget-conscious music lovers who want a clean, comfy stay without the frills

Food and Drink Options

While there’s no on-site restaurant, you’re in the middle of Hollywood, so late-night eats are everywhere. Grab tacos, Thai, or pizza within a short walk. The in-room microwave and fridge give you flexibility for leftovers or quick bites. Breakfast spots abound nearby for a lazy morning after a late night—plus, you’ll find convenience stores just steps away.

Nightlife Options

You’re just minutes from some of LA’s most iconic venues and bars, from indie clubs to rooftop lounges. While The Dixie doesn’t have its own bar, there’s no shortage of nightlife within walking distance. Whether you're heading to a venue or just grabbing a post-show drink, you won’t have to venture far.

What People Say

Guests love the affordable rates and prime location. Reviews highlight the easy access to public transit, especially for concert-goers without a car. The pool area is a surprise favorite for daytime relaxing, and many mention the friendly, helpful staff. For budget travelers, it's considered a hidden gem in Hollywood.

Areas for Improvement

Some guests mention that the décor is a bit dated, and the walls aren’t the most soundproof—so light sleepers might want to pack earplugs. Parking is available but can be limited during busy nights. Still, for the price and location, most agree it’s a solid deal.

The Bottom Line

If you’re heading to a show in Hollywood and want a budget-friendly, well-located hotel with retro charm, The Dixie Hollywood Hotel is a smart choice for music lovers.

Pleasant

Liked: Good location, right in Thai town and next to the metro and a supermarket. Parking onsite for an extra $25 per day. Had a nice pool too.
Disliked: Have to drive everywhere to go to see the sites or catch the public transport. Nothing in walking distance that was interesting to see

Good hotel to explore Los...

Liked: The hotel itself is good. Friendly staff at reception, especially the man who speaks Spanish. He was so welcoming and helpful all the time. Location is good to get around, both by the subway system and buses. There are plenty of eateries across the street because its a part of Little Thailand neighborhood, the hotel is also convenient for shopping at Ross & Marshals they are just next to the hotel. Target is 10 minute walk. The Walk of Fame is located at the same street as the Hotel, but better to ride 2 stops by subway.
Disliked: The room doesn't have proper curtains and blinders, I think it is very important not only for a quality sleep but also for privacy, I dont think it will cost to much to install them. Coffee is only available till 11:00am, after that time you should pay, maybe they could provide with coffee machine or at least kettle instead, because many people drink coffee/tea afternoon too.Neighborhood is central but we were really bothered by those homeless people around. They didn't enter the hotel territory due to security guy sitting there, however once you step outside of it, you will see so many walkers, perhaps it is more social problem of Los Angeles, so sorry for them.

Ok stay for a few...

Liked: It has a nice pool (but closes already at 8pm), rooms are clean. There was enough parking spaces in the location.
Disliked: The water pressure for the shower is quite low. It is in not the most family friendly neighbourhood, a lot of homeless people nearby. Also a lot of noice in the night cause mostly by noice cara driving around.

Great location, but no hot/warm...

Liked: Location
Disliked: There was no hot water in the shower. It seems to be a way for the hotel to save on water usage. No room had hot water in the shower. Not boiling hot, but like warm hot. It's a problem if you want to take a warm shower.

Liked: I like the property & rooms okay- I stayed there about a week once and my TV NEVER WORKED, a big bummer. I DID NOT LIKE THAT I PAID FOR THE ROOM ONLINE & purchased trip protection? When I got there, they refused me my room or an explanation, he did slip up and admit to giving my room away: BUT THEY REFUSE TO GIVE MY NONSY BACK, & charged the booking fee & cancelation fee. I ended up “sleeping” in the street outside their hotel as my luggage was too burdensome to wander around looking for another room. They wouldn’t even let me but a coke from there soda machine!!!!
Disliked: They refused to give me the room I paid for OR my money back, & u hadn’t violated any rules or done anything wrong.

Good

Liked: Good location. Nice and helpful staff. Nice pool which unfortunately I didn't have time to use. Clean rooms and cleaned every day if you wish. Very nice hotel. If it wasn't for the issue of smoking on the street I would give 10 stars
Disliked: Going out to smoke a cigarette in front of the hotel on the street was very tiring, especially since there is a metro station next to the hotel and all the time some homeless people were approaching you to give them a cigarette. You should designate a place to smoke somewhere on the hotel grounds on the square, since you can't smoke on the terrace. A small table and chair in the room and some plate and cutlery would also be useful. If it weren't for the obligation to smoke in front of the hotel I would give it 10 stars, but as it is only 7
