Liked: The place is nestled amongst lots of places to shop or eat. There's even a farmer's market. There's parking on site which is gated after hours which I did like...
Disliked: What I didn't like is.. when you look online at the photos of the rooms, the rooms look good, renovated, updated, and in good condition. When I got to the room. The room was definitely not renovated. In the pictures, there's a desk and chair to sit down and work.. there was no desk or chair in my room, and the room looked really dated - not like how it looks in the pictures. I called the front desk to express my concerns, but I was put in hold for 20 mins before I hung up and packed up my stuff, and walked back to the office. When I got to the office, it seemed like the agent was trying to reach me but couldn't because the phone was on hold? I dont know, but he put me in a two bed room, which also looked nothing like the pics, but I had something like a desk in it where I could sit and use my laptop... not a terrible stay at all. I just don't like the misinformation. I booked this place, which was a little more than the other places I checked out based on the looks and what was in the room.

Disliked: When booking, it is not apparent that there is an additional USD 25/day parking fee. Do not pay for parking USD 25/day. Free parking is available on the surrounding streets.

Worth taking because of the...

Liked: Clean, free coffee on the morning, walking distance to the Hollywood Walk of Fame and the Observatory, cheap taxi to Universal
Disliked: The house is old and dark, parking is $25 per day, they send a letter that check-out is at 12, and a link on how to check-out online. And at 11:15 they call and yell that we have missed the check-out deadline, they threaten to issue a fine, they ruined the whole mood

Liked: Room is clean, bed is comfy and have essential items. Location is closed to many restaurants. Staffs are nice!
Disliked: Air conditioning is old and have very loud noise. It disturbed my sleeping. The hotel doesn't provide you some bottle of water nor coffee machine in the room. Some outlets on the wall doesn't work. My room is on the first floor and I don't feel safe. At midnight, I can hear people talking outside and it's kind of annoying!!

Affordable hotel in Hollywood

Liked: With events to attend in and around Hollywood, The Dixie was in the ideal location - close to everything, with a Ralph’s across the road, the 101 entrance just a short drive away, so central (and plenty of parking). It’s not super fancy but doesn’t need to be - it’s clean and comfortable, and the staff are wonderful.
Disliked: It would be nice to have tea/coffee facilities in the rooms (even just some sachets and basic cups would be enough).

Amazing location at affordable price

Liked: Such a great location at a very reasonable price (for Hollywood). Exactly what we needed - clean, comfort, central, loads of parking, comfy beds, lovely staff.
Disliked: Nothing comes to mind - perhaps having coffee/tea facilities in the rooms would be nice (but there’s a Ralph’s right across the road, and a microwave in the rooms, so we could do our own coffees).
