Comfort Meets Convenience in Sioux Falls

Modern yet cozy, The Dakota is a 3-star hotel located just northwest of downtown Sioux Falls, offering a peaceful escape while keeping you connected to the city's lively music and entertainment scene. With a welcoming vibe, fresh and functional rooms, and thoughtful amenities like an indoor pool, hot tub, and fitness center, it's a solid home base for your concert weekend.

Why Concert-goers love it

You’re less than 10 minutes from many of Sioux Falls' top venues, and just 2.5 miles from Sioux Falls Regional Airport—great for fans flying in for a show. The hotel’s quiet garden setting is perfect for decompressing after a loud night out. Bonus: free parking and a shared lounge for post-show hangouts. While check-in starts at 3:00 PM, the front desk is helpful and flexible when availability allows.

Who this Hotel is great for

- Groups of friends needing space and budget-friendly comfort
- Solo travelers flying in for that once-in-a-lifetime concert
- Couples planning a relaxed weekend getaway
- Fans needing a quiet place to recharge after the encore
- Budget-conscious music lovers who still want quality amenities

Food and Drink Options

While there isn’t a full-service restaurant on-site, each room includes a fridge, and there are barbecue facilities for DIY dining. The shared lounge is great for snacks or takeout. Several fast-casual and sit-down eateries are just a short drive away, and the front desk can recommend late-night spots. Breakfast options are available nearby for sleeping-in mornings after a late night.

Nightlife Options

Although The Dakota doesn’t host its own live music, you’re just minutes from downtown bars and lounges where you can catch local acts or enjoy craft cocktails. If you prefer to keep things mellow, the hotel’s lounge and garden area are ideal for winding down.

What People Say

Guests rave about the cleanliness, friendly staff, and peaceful atmosphere. Travelers love the indoor pool and hot tub after a cold night concert, and the free parking is a major plus. The rooms are described as modern, spacious, and reliable with strong WiFi.

Areas for Improvement

Some reviewers mentioned that there’s no on-site restaurant or bar, so plan ahead for meals. A few guests noted the lack of elevators, so if stairs are an issue, request a ground-floor room.

The Bottom Line

With its quiet vibe, solid amenities, and easy access to Sioux Falls venues, The Dakota is a smart and stress-free choice for music fans looking to balance energy with relaxation.

The staff are great people...

Liked: The accomodations are fine and the staff are helpful and kind.
Disliked: I've stayed at The Dakota a number of times recently and every single time there was issues with basic things like sinks that work. Showers that work. Faucet knobs that fall off. Lights that didn't work.

Passable

Liked: Price was decent
Disliked: Toilet seat was broken and pool was not usable for the night we were there so we had dissatisfied kids and the breakfast was okay but wish the juice wouldn't have been empty so we had to stop at a gas station for juice and potty.

Bathroom sink was gross

Liked: Breakfast was good
Disliked: Bathroom sink was plugged and I asked the front desk to please fix as gross stuff was coming back up. However nobody came to fix or even to just dump some draino down drain and plunge. Ended up washing hands and brushing teeth with bathtub faucet which was difficult with 2 people with mobility issues.

Basically its like motel 6

Liked: My bathroom toilet was not flushing. They brought in a guy to check it out but he couldn't fix it. They did offer me another room on my 2nd day of stay but I was already convinced to go home so I checked out a day early.
Disliked: Cleanliness. Vending machines out of order and bathroom facilities functional

Unpleasant at best

Liked: The staff was friendly, the ac worked, and the pool was functional at best...
Disliked: We had booked 2 rooms that we requested be close in proximity or possibly adjoining rooms. The first one was on the first floor. The second one was on the second floor with a nice jaunt between the two of them. Not ideal for family staying together. Second room had no chairs to sit on, no light other than bathroom light and a tiny nightlight lamp. It also had no wall hangings or blankets on the beds what so ever. There were massive stains on the floors and ceilings. First room was better. The ac had trouble keeping up and took a long time for the fridge to cool down at all. But at least this room had 2 chairs to sit on, a floorlamp and a wallsconce. We only got one towel though. We were lead to believe this was a nice family friendly place but seemed more like an extended stay hotel for vagrant type people. The pool was functional but the hot tub was not and the pool itself was not great although the kids somewhat enjoyed it. We ended up all cramming into one room due to no one being comfortable staying in the oddly empty room with the type of clientele staying there as well. Complaints were made to staff about the room but said there was nothing we could do except for put in a complaint through the booking service.

Perfect Pet Friendly Stay!

Liked: Happy they were dog friendly! This is why we choose this spot! We had 3 dogs, I think the pet fee was $20 each which seemed fair to us! There were lots of other dogs we saw, and we were just happy to find a decently priced place to stay with our babes!Found an amazing little place to eat and had some of the best food on our whole trip! I just can’t remember the name but it was downtown by the river!
Disliked: The outdoor area had lots of dog poop from visitors not picking up after their dogs! Be a decent human and please pick up after your dogs to keep the yards clean for other pups! There was so much
