The Spotlight on The Crown of Cookham

Cozy Country Comfort Just Outside the Concert Crowds

The Crown of Cookham is a charming 3-star inn nestled in the heart of Cookham village. With its blend of traditional style and modern amenities, this hotel offers a peaceful countryside escape just a short drive from buzzing music venues in Windsor and Maidenhead. Free parking, a welcoming pub, and a relaxed atmosphere make it a great base for concert-goers looking to unwind after the show.

Why Concert-goers love it

Just 10 miles from Windsor Castle’s popular event spaces and only 6 miles from Dorney Lake, The Crown of Cookham puts you within easy reach of major concerts while still offering a laid-back village atmosphere. Late check-in from 15:00 and a peaceful setting make it ideal for post-gig recovery. With London Heathrow just 16 miles away, getting in and out for a show is a breeze.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends looking for a local pub vibe and easy access to venues
  • Solo travelers catching a bucket-list show
  • Couples looking to combine live music with countryside charm
  • Fans wanting quiet after a loud night out
  • Budget-conscious music lovers who don’t mind a short drive to the venue

Food and Drink Options

The hotel’s on-site restaurant and bar serve up hearty pub fare and drinks well into the evening. While there’s no 24/7 room service, the cozy pub makes a great spot for a nightcap, and there are several walkable restaurants in the village. Continental breakfast is available the next morning—perfect after a late night.

Nightlife Options

While the hotel itself is more about relaxed evenings than late-night raves, its traditional pub often features local chatter and a welcoming atmosphere. For more action, Windsor’s bars and clubs are just a short cab ride away.

What People Say

Guests love the hotel’s quiet location, friendly staff, and comfortable rooms. Many mention the free private parking as a bonus, and the on-site pub receives high marks for both food and atmosphere. It’s described as a great value stay close to major attractions and venues.

Areas for Improvement

Some guests note that the hotel is a bit of a drive from central concert venues, so it’s best for travelers with a car or those happy to take a taxi. Rooms are simple and clean, but not ultra-modern—more cozy than cutting-edge.

The Bottom Line

If you’re looking for a peaceful place to recharge after the show, The Crown of Cookham offers countryside charm and easy access to Windsor’s live music scene.

Liked: It’s a great spot and a lovely pub. Staff are great
Disliked: The room hadn’t been cleaned, urine in the wc and clearly not cleaned. Sadly had to leave before we could stay, emailed to see if we could get a refund, but no response at all sadly

Happy to stay here any...

Liked: Accommodation is chalet style behind the pub beer gardenParking is simple and close by Clean rooms and reasonable space for a few days stayFood in the restaurant (while not cheap) is very good and the staff are excellent
Disliked: If i had anything to complain about it would be the lack of air conditioning ... on a hot night the room can be a bit of a sweat box.I knew this before going so more of an upgrade suggestion than any real gripe

A wonderful, welcoming pub with...

Liked: The setting of the pub, and the rooms in a separate building behind, was great. All very attractive, with nice outdoor seating areas for enjoying a drink or a bite. The location at the end of the historic high street is wonderful, with a large number of dining options available. Accessibility to the beautiful Thames Path was a huge plus as well. In the pub dining rooms, food quality and presentation at dinner and breakfast were both excellent. Inside the room, the bed was very comfortable. There was a fan available (stored in the cupboard) to cool the room down, which was appreciated. Bathroom was well-appointed, with excellent soap and shampoos, and the large bath towels were exceptional!
Disliked: The shower head was a bit disappointing, and the kettle was in dire need of descaling. During breakfast after our first night, service was sorely lacking. Things seemed very confused and the server was hugely forgetful. That said, breakfast after our second night (as well as dinner on our arrival night) had no issues, with very professional, helpful service.

Liked: The staff were great, the food was incredible as was the breakfast
Disliked: The local couple who decided after buying them a drink they would steal my partners handbag. Unreal!

Would not book again

Liked: Had a lovely evening meal and the staff were very welcoming on the evening.
Disliked: Toilet did not flush. Water smelt of the sewer. No water pressure whatsoever in shower. The room was ridiculously hot even with a fan. No breakfast available.
