A great stay and very...

Liked: We were looking for accommodation for our Offas Dyke run. As soon as we entered the hotel/Inn we were so warmly welcomed by our hosts. They had only recently acquired the property but have set about refurbishing the rooms, lounge and dining room with enthusiasm. We had a lovely stay , comfy bed and a shared bathroom . Hosts were so welcoming and are obviously well liked by the locals. They are creating a great atmosphere and the hotel has brilliant potential.

Great location

Liked: Location was perfect for travelling to the Urdd Eisteddfod
Disliked: I appreciate that there are new owners and I wish them luck with their vision.

Convenient for a stopover doing...

Liked: Clean, fairly simple room. Owners were friendly, they’d only just taken over the pub so weren’t able to provide cooked food, but offered us a basket of pastries and fruit in place of breakfast.
Disliked: Room was very noisy, being on the main road, plus all the drinkers congregated on the pavement outside. Room was a bit shabby, and the pillows were so hard I ended up using a couple jumpers inside the pillowcase instead.

decent value for money -...

Liked: The hosts were excellent and the bedding was perfect.
Disliked: we were expecting a cooked breakfast in the morning but this wasn't available due to the new owners having only taken over 2 weeks prior so they weren't fully operational - thats ok - but we would have liked to have been informed prior to our arrival.

Just smashing. Home from home.

Liked: Lovely owner. Very interested in our well being . Super helpful and kind
Disliked: Everything was fine the new owners had only had the property for a week so we’re still moving in themselves . Can’t wait to see the place when they’ll make their mark.

Overpriced for the offer, had...

Liked: The kitchen at the pub/hotel was out of action so they paid for me to have breakfast at a little cafe opposite, that was probably the best bit. Also ate dinner at the nearby Dolphin Inn which was superb fresh fish- recommend that place.
Disliked: Also the key things (sheets, towels, loos) were clean and a trying smell of bleach in the room there was an overall level of dirt, stained carpet, mould in shower and very tired decor- the whole pub and common areas feel like they need a big spring clean and professional redecoration.

Liked: The so-called 'dry breakfast' left outside the bedroom door at night was very generous and kept us going for much of the following day's hike. Don't expect emails (they don't do email) and don't expect them to answer the phone, but if you have a booking.com booking you will do just fine and will receive a warm welcome when you walk through the door of the pub. This place is ideal if you are doing the Offa's Dyke path, as it is right on the trail.
