The Spotlight on The Craigmyle Inn

Charming Heritage Stay Just Minutes from Downtown Victoria

Set in a peaceful residential neighborhood, The Craigmyle Inn offers a cozy and character-filled stay in a restored heritage property. Just a short stroll from iconic Craigdarroch Castle and under 2 km from downtown Victoria, this inn blends old-world charm with modern comforts like free WiFi, a shared guest kitchen, and a relaxing garden terrace. Each room is uniquely decorated—some with kitchenettes and castle views—making it a great base for travelers looking to explore the city and catch live music.

Why Concert-goers love it

The Craigmyle Inn is ideally located for music fans who want to be close to downtown Victoria’s top live music venues without staying right in the noise. After the encore, guests can retreat to a quiet, residential area that’s still within walking distance or a short cab ride from the action. While there's no 24-hour front desk, flexible self-check-in and peaceful surroundings make it easy to come back and unwind late.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends looking for affordable, character-filled rooms
  • Solo travelers attending a bucket-list concert
  • Couples planning a relaxing post-show weekend
  • Fans who value peace and quiet after a high-energy night out
  • Budget-conscious music lovers who want charm without big hotel prices

Food and Drink Options

While The Craigmyle Inn doesn’t offer on-site dining, it features a shared guest kitchen and BBQ facilities, perfect for late-night snacks or casual meals. Guests are just a short walk or drive to downtown eateries, many of which stay open late. It’s worth noting there’s no breakfast service on-site, but several cozy cafés nearby make for an easy and delicious morning bite after a late night.

Nightlife Options

You're just minutes from downtown Victoria’s live music bars, intimate lounges, and local pubs. Whether you're catching a show or exploring the post-concert scene, the city’s nightlife is easily accessible. Back at the inn, enjoy a glass of wine on the peaceful garden terrace or unwind in the common lounge with other travelers.

What People Say

Reviews highlight the inn’s quiet, homey atmosphere, friendly staff, and clean, uniquely decorated rooms. Guests love the heritage charm, the proximity to the castle and downtown, and the ability to cook or relax in common areas. Many mention the excellent value for money and peaceful setting after a busy day.

Areas for Improvement

The inn doesn’t have an elevator, so be prepared to navigate some stairs—something to keep in mind if you’re traveling with lots of gear. Also, some rooms don’t have TVs, which is great if you’re unplugging but worth noting if you want to wind down with a movie.

The Bottom Line

For music fans who want a quiet, affordable, and character-filled stay near Victoria’s concert venues, The Craigmyle Inn is a charming and restful choice.

Comfortable lodging in residential area

Liked: It's a nice property. The shared spaces are large and comfortably fitted out. The bedroom was also well appointed. It's smaller than you might find at a typical hotel but very comfortable anyway.
Disliked: Street parking was limited to one side of the street and heavily used, so I ended up parking in the furthest possible place one could find. Not that long of a walk but just something to note - you may have to transport luggage a distance and then up many stairs (which is noted in the listing).

Unexpectedly amazing

Disliked: There’s a lot of stairs, which doesn’t bother me, but I can see that being an issue for certain people.

Avoid this one at all...

Liked: Charming lounge area and a nice castle nearby, that's about all the positive there is.
Disliked: Extremely small room with no/cheap amenities; stairs and no elevator; our room was nowhere near the photos shown on the website (maybe some rooms are nice but ours was really bad); there was also blood stains on the bedsheet. no AC, no TV, one lamp on a square foot lamp table, one charging socket only.

Liked: Location, lovely building design. We went there for a friend's wedding, Steven was so helpful in accommodating my request.
Disliked: It's just the parking too crowded. As travelers, we spent time outside until late at night, when we came back at night, there was no more parking nearby, we had to park quite far and then walked back.
