The Spotlight on The Covenanter Hotel

Charming Country Inn in the Heart of Falkland

Located in the historic village of Falkland with the stunning Lomond Hills as a backdrop, The Covenanter Hotel blends rustic charm with modern comforts. This cozy inn offers a peaceful escape from the buzz of city life, with free Wi-Fi, private parking, and rooms that overlook the picturesque village square. The on-site coffee shop and restaurant serve up locally sourced meals and homemade treats, making it a relaxing base whether you're chasing gigs or soaking in the scenery.

Why Concert-goers love it

Though not in a major city, The Covenanter is ideal for music fans heading to venues in nearby towns like Glenrothes, Perth, or even Edinburgh. After a night of live music, you'll return to a quiet village atmosphere—perfect for unwinding. The free parking and proximity to regional bus routes make it easy to get around, and the flexible 2:00 PM check-in means you can settle in before heading out.

Who this Hotel is great for

  • Groups of friends looking for a peaceful, budget-friendly base near smaller venues
  • Solo travelers who want comfort and character
  • Couples making a weekend of it with live music and countryside walks
  • Fans wanting a quieter post-concert recovery space
  • Budget-conscious music lovers who prefer charm over chain hotels

Food and Drink Options

The hotel’s on-site restaurant serves lunch and evening meals using locally sourced ingredients, and there's a traditional weekend carvery that draws rave reviews. The coffee shop is perfect for a late morning recovery with tea, coffee, and homemade cakes. While there’s no 24/7 room service, the food options are hearty, local, and satisfying after a night out.

Nightlife Options

Falkland is more about cozy pubs and craft ales than big club nights. A few charming local pubs are within walking distance, offering a friendly place to grab a drink and chat about last night's setlist. For more nightlife, larger towns are just a short drive or taxi ride away.

What People Say

Guests love the scenic location and warm, welcoming staff. Reviews often highlight the comfort of the rooms and the delicious homemade food. The peaceful surroundings are a big draw, especially after a night of loud music and dancing.

Areas for Improvement

Check-out is a bit early at 10:00 AM, which may feel rushed after a late-night concert. Also, while charming, Falkland is a small village—so nightlife and transport options are limited if you’re not driving.

The Bottom Line

If you're looking for a peaceful, character-filled hotel with great food and a cozy vibe after a concert, The Covenanter Hotel is a hidden gem in the heart of Fife.

Would book again!

Liked: Centre of Town, great restaurant downstairs, amazing breakfast with loads of choices. The James room was very spacious and clean. Staff were lovely. Quick walk to Maspie Den trail. Wish we stayed 2 nights! Nice to see the Town at the end of the day without all the quick stop tour buses.
Disliked: There was nothing to not like.

A Lovely Close to an...

Liked: Almost everything, the location, the venue, the ambience, the locals and the food were delightful. Witnessing me at my finest discussing the potholes of life with the Village Inebriant was a moment of beauty.
Disliked: Whoever thought of putting speakers in the restaurant ceiling, which is also the bedroom floors ... was an idiot. The restaurant closes at 8.00pm ... the God awful playlist didn't. I didn't pay £159 a night to sit in my room listening to an empty room bang out mindless modern pop for the next 2.5 hours. That said ... I was sat in an exceptionally lovely room. Would we return? Absolutely!!
