The Covenanter Hotel, Falkland

If you are after rustic...

Liked: Everything went well. The hotel has great charm and oozes character. It was everything we wanted and we were not disappointed. The staff were some of the friendliest I have ever met. Food great!
Disliked: Nothing

Exceptional

Lovely little short stay in...

Liked: The room was clean and had a view of the main street/Palace. The bed was very comfortable and the room had a good hot shower. The restaurant was good. We had a lovely dinner, excellent wine and a great Scottish breakfast the next morning. And the bar was a nice place to spend the evening too.
Disliked: Falkland is a lovely little place. Nice to walk around in and lovely people. And I'd definitely recommend The Covenanter. It's Just a shame that The Covenanter was the only evening meal option/ bar open on the Friday night we stayed in Falkland

Liked: Location. Staff were all lovely.
Disliked: Very noisy room, large piece of plastic inMy lamb Madra Curry!, could have easily been a tragedy.Offered discount for my meal which i refused .

Mixed experience

Liked: Staff were very friendly.and attentive. Food was excellent.
Disliked: Hotel is unmanned at night and there is an emergency phone number to call. An alarm went off at 4am, called emergency number and got an answerphone..no reply and left a message explaining the situation and asking someone to call back/ turn off alarm. Alarm kept going off until 8am keeping us awake.. no apology from Management despite them knowing there must have been a missed call/ message on their emergency phone. Nobody has contacted us at all. Badly handled by management.

Liked: Fantastic stay. Room was lovely, staff went above and beyond and the food in the restaurant was excellent. Will definitely stay yearly as we got engaged in The Covenater. There was a problem with the heating/hot water on arrival but the staff couldn't have been more helpful and accommodating and the problem was fixed ASAP. We had dinner in the restaurant and the lasagne was the best I have had anywhere. When staff found out we had gotten engaged they laid on prosseco and congratulated us. Couldn't have asked for a better weekend. Beautiful hotel in a beautiful location.
Disliked: We stayed in one of the 2 new rooms which aren't in the main entrance of the hotel. The door that leads to the 2 rooms which is on the street and has outside tables for people drinking outside beside it isn't locked and myself and my fiancée would just have felt a bit more safer if there was a lock to that door.
