The Spotlight on The Cotswold

Classic Comfort Close to Nottingham’s Top Music Spots

The Cotswold is a family-run hotel just outside Nottingham city centre, offering a warm, no-frills stay with convenient access to the city’s concert venues. Located less than 1.5 miles from the heart of Nottingham, this hotel blends affordability with comfort, and includes free on-site parking and free Wi-Fi. With a peaceful terraced garden and all the essentials in-room — including Freeview TV, a phone, and tea/coffee facilities — The Cotswold is a solid base for music lovers exploring the city.

Why Concert-goers love it

The Cotswold is less than two miles from major transport hubs like Nottingham Rail Station, making late-night returns easy after a gig. Its quiet location just outside the city centre means you’ll avoid the noisier city bustle — ideal for post-concert wind-downs. The 14:00 check-in gives you flexibility if you’re arriving mid-day, while the 10:30 check-out still allows for a decent sleep-in after a late night.

Who this Hotel is great for

- Groups of friends looking for affordable stays with free parking
- Solo travellers catching a bucket-list show
- Couples on a music-filled weekend getaway
- Fans wanting peace and quiet after a loud night
- Budget-conscious music lovers who value location and essentials

Food and Drink Options

While The Cotswold doesn’t have an on-site restaurant, it’s only a short walk from several local cafés, pubs, and takeaways — perfect for grabbing a bite before or after a concert. Tea and coffee facilities in your room mean you can kickstart your morning easily, even after a late one. While there’s no breakfast service on-site, nearby spots offer options for every appetite.

Nightlife Options

Located close to Nottingham city centre, The Cotswold puts you in reach of vibrant nightlife — from buzzing pubs and cocktail lounges to late-night eateries. While there’s no bar in the hotel itself, you’re never far from the action, and it’s easy to make your way back to a quiet room once the night winds down.

What People Say

Guests consistently praise The Cotswold for its great value, with many noting the friendly, helpful staff and the clean, comfortable rooms. Reviewers love the free parking and the hotel’s proximity to the city’s venues, making it a practical choice for gig-goers. The peaceful garden is also a hit for those wanting to relax before heading out.

Areas for Improvement

Some guests mention that the décor feels a bit dated and the bathrooms could use a refresh — but for the price, most agree it’s more than fair value. There is no lift, so pack light if you’re heading to an upper floor, and don’t expect luxury amenities.

The Bottom Line

If you're after a budget-friendly, quiet base that’s close to Nottingham’s music venues and offers all the essentials, The Cotswold hits the right note.

Convenient but very basic.

Liked: The staff were very lovely. Parking available and a nearby bus stop. Easy to find. Affordable for a night stay.
Disliked: My room was unfortunately very unclean with stains over the walls, the bathroom smelt so bad I chose not to have a shower, the doona inlay was very stained/old. The carpet was in need of repair. Some blackout blinds would improve sleeping as it’s on a busy road with a supermarket lit up across the road.

Okay for short stop over...

Liked: Location is good , there is a bus stop just outside
Disliked: It’s an old building with small rooms, blinds are not enough to keep the room dark in the morning, carpet smells. There is no breakfast area.
