Modern comfort meets historic charm at The Connecticut River Valley Inn Hartford South/Glastonbury. Located in the heart of Glastonbury, this stylish 4-star bed and breakfast offers a peaceful, garden-filled escape just under 7 miles from downtown Hartford’s top concert venues. With cozy, well-appointed rooms, serene surroundings, and thoughtful amenities, it's a smart pick for music lovers who want to unwind after the show.

Why Concert-goers love it

You’re just a short drive or ride-share from venues like the XL Center and Wadsworth Atheneum, meaning you can skip the downtown chaos while still catching your favorite acts. Thanks to its quiet setting and intimate vibe, it’s perfect for a restful night post-concert. Parking is free and on-site, and check-in starts at 3:00 PM—ideal if you’re arriving early for a show. The 11:00 AM checkout gives you time to sleep in and recover.

Who this Hotel is great for

- Groups of friends looking for a cozy, shared stay with kitchenette options
- Solo travelers catching a dream concert and wanting peace and quiet
- Couples turning a show night into a romantic weekend
- Fans who prefer to relax away from the buzz after the encore
- Budget-conscious music fans wanting boutique luxury without city-center prices

Food and Drink Options

While there’s no on-site restaurant, each room includes a fully equipped kitchenette with fridge, toaster, and coffee maker—perfect for late-night snacks or early morning fuel. The central location puts you near Glastonbury’s walkable dining scene, with plenty of local cafes and restaurants for a hearty breakfast or a post-show bite.

Nightlife Options

While the inn itself keeps things quiet and relaxing, you're just a short trip from Hartford’s bar and lounge scene. Whether you’re seeking a nightcap, craft beer, or live local music, it’s all within easy reach—then back to your peaceful room for a good night’s sleep.

What People Say

Guests love the peaceful vibe, stylish rooms, and attentive service. Many mention the beautiful garden setting and comfortable beds, with several reviewers noting how easy it is to get to downtown Hartford for events. The kitchenette amenities earn special praise for convenience during multi-night stays.

Areas for Improvement

Some guests mention that the property is more of a quiet retreat than a social hub—so if you're looking to party on-site, this might not be your vibe. Limited staff presence at night means it’s more self-service than full-service, but that adds to its laid-back charm.

The Bottom Line

A peaceful, charming base for music fans who want easy access to Hartford’s venues without sacrificing comfort or quiet.

it was a lovely place to stay for a night!

Liked: My jewelry was left in room and they called us. Honesty! It was an anniversary gift from my husband. Everything about the room was nice, attention to detail, comfortable beds, access to outdoor balcony from room. its a beautiful antique inn.
Disliked: nothing

Perfect weekend getaway location and cozy enough for a longer stay.

Liked: The property has a great location. Plenty of shops and restaurants within walking distance and central to many tourist attractions that are easily driveable. The bed was so comfortable, the room spacious and clean.

Bad experience as they never checked for booking and reserved rooms, they were not prepared to see guest when we arrived

Liked: we arrived at the property for our reserved accommodations, the gentlemen ( owner) greeted us -and he was not expecting us! he reached to his wife, and said, we have guests! then, his wife came out of their living room and said, I havent checked the online reservations and I was sick, and didnt look! so, we graciously bowed out, and she agreed to allow us to leave the property and they never charged our room for 2 days as it was refunded. I never stayed at a lodging where they didnt check for their guest reservations! they were shocked we came and we were shocked they were not responsible for bookings! they offered us to stay, they were going to make our room- its was 6 pm! The inn seemed like their living quarters ( all the common areas). it was most bizzard experience! I would never return! the kite he was under construction and visible to guests.
Disliked: The unkept kitchen and living quarters, beautiful property. they were not expecting guests, they said.. it was there slow season. they asked when we made our reservations, 2 weeks ago our reply!

Pleasant

Liked: I pretty colonial house/estate, which I understand dates back to 1740. Location is also very convenient, within walking distance to Glastonbury main street, and that more or less sums up the positives.
Disliked: I stayed there for two nights, which cost me $650. I only saw the owner(s) on arrival and on departure. The room was not cleaned (or the bed made), which I find unacceptable for that kind of money. Being a very dated room there was quite a bit of dust around, to which I am allergic. All windows were sealed so could not get any fresh air. Really poor value for money.

location was great but we will not stay there again nor recommend it.

Liked: location
Disliked: not as advertised. room was not as pictured on the web site. A wedding was held over the same time we were staying and we felt like we were space fill and for the price there wasnt an enjoyable experience. had we been informed we would not have booked the two nights stay.
