The Spotlight on The Coach House Bristol

Charming Country Retreat Just Outside the City Buzz

A cozy, character-filled guest house just over 5 miles from central Bristol, The Coach House Bristol blends 18th-century charm with modern comforts. Set in a peaceful countryside spot with scenic views and a welcoming atmosphere, it's a great base for travelers looking to enjoy Bristol’s vibrant music scene without sacrificing a good night’s sleep.

Why Concert-goers love it

You’re close enough to Bristol’s top venues for a short drive or taxi ride, yet far enough to escape the post-gig noise. With free parking and a quiet setting, it's perfect if you’re driving in for a show. The relaxed vibe and comfortable rooms help you unwind after a night of music, and a home-cooked breakfast the next morning is a definite win. While check-in is from 15:00 and check-out by 10:30, the friendly staff are known to be accommodating where possible—just ask!

Who this Hotel is great for

Groups of friends looking for a chilled-out place to crash
Solo travelers ticking artists off their bucket list
Couples turning a gig into a weekend escape
Fans who value a quieter recovery space
Budget-conscious music lovers who still want quality and comfort

Food and Drink Options

A highlight here is the made-to-order breakfast—think cereals, granola, fresh fruit, yogurt, toast, juice, and hot drinks, all served fresh in the morning. While there’s no on-site restaurant for late-night meals, Bristol’s eateries are a short ride away and there are a few pubs nearby if you’re driving. There’s also a lovely courtyard garden to enjoy a quiet drink or snack after the show.

Nightlife Options

While the hotel itself is more of a peaceful retreat, you're not far from Bristol’s buzzing nightlife. Bars, pubs, and live music venues are within a 15-minute drive, giving you plenty of options before or after your concert. The Coach House’s calm setting is the perfect contrast to the city’s energy, ideal for winding down.

What People Say

Guests rave about the friendly service, spotless rooms, and the delicious breakfasts. The peaceful location and historic charm are frequent highlights, with many reviewers appreciating the relaxing environment after a night out. The strong WiFi and comfy beds also get consistent praise.

Areas for Improvement

This isn’t the spot for party animals—the area is quiet, and there's no bar or restaurant on-site. If you're relying on public transport late at night, options are limited, so a taxi or car is best. Also, the early check-out time of 10:30 might feel a bit rushed after a late gig.

The Bottom Line

For concert-goers wanting a peaceful, comfortable stay near Bristol with great breakfasts and easy access to venues, The Coach House Bristol hits all the right notes.

Charming, Dog friendly coach house...

Liked: Really friendly, helpful staff. The lady serving breakfast was lovely. Great location close to Bristol, free parking. Cute room in a courtyard with a place to exercise our very old dog. Tables and chairs outside rooms. Good selection for continental breakfast, very reasonable at £5. Comfy beds, clean linens and towels. Bathroom small but clean.
Disliked: Light from courtyard shone through bathroom door. Bathroom was tiny. A little tired looking in places but much better than you would expect for the price.

We left and went to...

Liked: Nothing
Disliked: Weeds in the courtyard, garden rubble piled up in the courtyard. Cleaning materials piled up by the courtyard. Building rubble stored outside our window. Filthy carpets. Curtain rail hanging out of the wall. 30 year old bed. No field to walk our dog as advertised.

Had a great stay, twice.

Liked: Location was useful. Room was nice, breakfast was great. The place has clearly improved in recent times. We stayed twice, I used to live in Frenchay 35 years ago. Enjoyed our stay.
Disliked: Reception was closed more than I expected, but it worked out. The room keys need updating. Bit odd, but had character.

It served a purpose.

Disliked: Was very noisy in the morning from people upstairs and the kitchen. We were in room 1. Don’t see how that is an executive double?

Will not return

Liked: Not a lot !It was run down, didn’t look anything like the pictures, clearly the photos taken haven’t been edited for many years. My bacon was clearly gone off and out of date. And no one on reception to talk to in the evening or the morning. Don’t rush to go here !
Disliked: Broken handles on door, poor shower, Gone off meat
