The Spotlight on The Coach House Bristol

Charming Country Retreat Just Outside the City Buzz

A cozy, character-filled guest house just over 5 miles from central Bristol, The Coach House Bristol blends 18th-century charm with modern comforts. Set in a peaceful countryside spot with scenic views and a welcoming atmosphere, it's a great base for travelers looking to enjoy Bristol’s vibrant music scene without sacrificing a good night’s sleep.

Why Concert-goers love it

You’re close enough to Bristol’s top venues for a short drive or taxi ride, yet far enough to escape the post-gig noise. With free parking and a quiet setting, it's perfect if you’re driving in for a show. The relaxed vibe and comfortable rooms help you unwind after a night of music, and a home-cooked breakfast the next morning is a definite win. While check-in is from 15:00 and check-out by 10:30, the friendly staff are known to be accommodating where possible—just ask!

Who this Hotel is great for

Groups of friends looking for a chilled-out place to crash
Solo travelers ticking artists off their bucket list
Couples turning a gig into a weekend escape
Fans who value a quieter recovery space
Budget-conscious music lovers who still want quality and comfort

Food and Drink Options

A highlight here is the made-to-order breakfast—think cereals, granola, fresh fruit, yogurt, toast, juice, and hot drinks, all served fresh in the morning. While there’s no on-site restaurant for late-night meals, Bristol’s eateries are a short ride away and there are a few pubs nearby if you’re driving. There’s also a lovely courtyard garden to enjoy a quiet drink or snack after the show.

Nightlife Options

While the hotel itself is more of a peaceful retreat, you're not far from Bristol’s buzzing nightlife. Bars, pubs, and live music venues are within a 15-minute drive, giving you plenty of options before or after your concert. The Coach House’s calm setting is the perfect contrast to the city’s energy, ideal for winding down.

What People Say

Guests rave about the friendly service, spotless rooms, and the delicious breakfasts. The peaceful location and historic charm are frequent highlights, with many reviewers appreciating the relaxing environment after a night out. The strong WiFi and comfy beds also get consistent praise.

Areas for Improvement

This isn’t the spot for party animals—the area is quiet, and there's no bar or restaurant on-site. If you're relying on public transport late at night, options are limited, so a taxi or car is best. Also, the early check-out time of 10:30 might feel a bit rushed after a late gig.

The Bottom Line

For concert-goers wanting a peaceful, comfortable stay near Bristol with great breakfasts and easy access to venues, The Coach House Bristol hits all the right notes.

Basic, not a pleasure for...

Liked: Location and initial appearance’s
Disliked: It was tired and shoddy. The room smelt musty and a bit grubby. Cheap fittings (door handle put on upside down). Ridiculously their Disabled parking bay was NOT by the entrance but near the end of a row of bays THE SAME WIDTH as ordinary bays! No-one using a wheelchair would have room to get in and out. Sink in room cracked. Curtains not clean.

Overpriced, in need of TLC,...

Liked: The staff were very nice, especially Jane, who cooked our breakfast. She was a credit to the place. The breakfast itself was good value, but not the room. I do have to give them credit for supplying an iron and hairdryer.
Disliked: It was shabby. The room was musty. There was only one pillow each, I usually sleep on two. The place needs lots of work , run down. We were only here because our accommodation was cancelled at the last moment, and we needed somewhere near my brother. I would not return.

Genuine care, spotless rooms –...

Liked: We travelled to Bristol to visit our loved one in a nearby nursing home. From the moment we arrived, The Coach House felt like a safe, welcoming haven during an emotional and difficult time.Jane served breakfast each morning and is a huge asset, friendly, thoughtful and always delivering freshly cooked meals. Iza handled every booking change quickly and smoothly, making our stay as easy as possible. All staff were fantastic, including the cleaning team who kept the room spotless and greeted us warmly each day. When our loved ones condition changed and he moved to end-of-life care, and, ultimately died, we had to extend our stay several times at short notice. Even when the B&B was fully booked, the owner called other local places on our behalf to secure a room nearby, going well beyond normal service. We always came back to the Coach House. This kindness, compassion and practical help made all the difference to us. The calm atmosphere, clean rooms and exceptional service meant we ended up extending three times and we're still here as I write this review for the foreseeable future.
Disliked: There was honestly nothing to fault. Everything was handled with genuine care, attention to detail and professionalism. Even when our circumstances changed unexpectedly and we needed support, the team responded with kindness and practical help. The room was clean and comfortable, the service consistent, and every member of staff went out of their way to make a difficult time easier for us. It’s rare to find a place where nothing feels like too much trouble, but that’s exactly what we experienced here.

Lovely location and rustic building...

Liked: Good breakfast, location (including the courtyard) and staff. And dog friendly!
Disliked: The size of the room and the unpleasant odor in the room.

Disappointing

Liked: Staff friendly and helpful.
Disliked: Don't let the pictures fool you! In need of refurbishment, carpets soiled, bathroom with large areas of mould, hot water tap purposefully adjusted for low flow or otherwise cold. A hairdryer that only blows cold air! Creaky staircase used throughout the night. Breakfast: meats were poor quality, overpriced at £30 for 2ad, 1ch. We won't be staying again.

Very poor

Liked: Lots of parking.
Disliked: Constant traffic noise from nearby motorway. Room jaded - grubby window frames, cracked sink, cracked window in bathroom. Bathroom tiny with mold on ceiling, no sink, flimsy shower curtain and nowhere to hang towels or clothes. Surcharged £10 for late arrival (21.30) due to traffic issues (M5 closed due to accident). Very poor communication (phoned 4 times on number provided to advise of late arrival - line permanently engaged, no voicemail option, and message sent at 19.06 via booking.com advising of late arrival did not get a response until 20:23 advising arrival after 20:00 would incur a £10 surcharge!). Surcharge not advised on original listing and confirmation email doesn't detail check-in times, though does mention surcharge fee outside of booking times though only in 3rd paragraph! Not the cheapest accommodation available in the area and I've stayed in accommodation that was a lot cheaper and a lot nicer.
