For a one night stayover,...
Liked: Abbey was beautiful building. Wish I had noticed the chairs looking out onto the garden earlier. Nice grounds walking between Coach House & Building.
Disliked: Breakfast was cold unfortunately and times werent advised at any time so had to guess. I arrived late at night and directions to reception a little unclear. Bathroom plunger had dirty water in it.

Superb
Liked: The breakfasts (especially the sausages) were amazing: I can understand why Henry the VIII used to stay there! Good location since only a short walk to partake of a decent pint in one of the pubs. Interesting history and pretty walks around the grounds.
Disliked: Made myself a coffee in my room when I arrived but it tasted of soap. Don't think the cup had been rinsed - so marked down on cleanliness. Sad to see that a large beech had been felled in the grounds but otherwise some incredible trees there, especially the cedar.

Good
Disliked: bed in coach house was too firm, but staff were efficient in enabling me to move to an abbey bedroom which was much better

Liked: Great value for money.
Disliked: Breakfast set up not great as only large tables and eggs both fried and scrambled over cooked and cold

Pleasant
Liked: The landscape gardens are nice and the location in the town is very good.
Disliked: The room was small a felt like a student dorm, with a poor quality bed and outdated fittings. Breakfast ran out of food, crockery, and cutlery at various timings, and the hot drink provision was poor.

Lovely stay in a superb...
Liked: Abbey Location and estate superb. Breakfast very good. It has so much history going back to 1300 hundreds. It’s a Grade 2 listed National Treasure. Hopefully it will be taken over by the National Trust or English Heritage for future posterity.
